Got weird marks/stains on the back surface of my MacBook after laying idle for some time. Not scratches — feels more like surface discoloration.
What usually causes this? Moisture, oxidation, heat?
Also, what’s the safest way to clean/remove them without damaging the finish?
Bought a used MacBook Air M4 recently on May 13, and I’m confused about the warranty start date.
The seller told me he bought the MacBook around 2 months ago and that it was lightly used (battery health is 100% and battery cycle count is 10). Everything looks genuine and works fine.
But when I signed in with my Apple ID and connected the MacBook to the internet, the Apple warranty/coverage page started showing coverage beginning around May 13 until May 12, 2027—basically the same day I set it up.
Is this normal? Can Apple warranty dates update after the first proper activation or Apple ID login? Or maybe the seller never actually activated it before? Could there be another explanation?
The MacBook appears genuine and activates normally with Apple services.
