am I safe to install these new seals? can't seem to remove all the residue from the outer area.
I'm on my 4th attempt getting the water pump to seal properly, figured I'd swap out some timing seals "real quick"
I've used brake clean, goo gone, acetone, rubbing alcohol, picks, wire brushes, paperclips... I'm exhausted. What am I missing?
Is the water pump mating surface just too damaged? What's the easiest way to repair?
I'm a beginner so not too familiar with this stuff.
I've triple checked everything, and believe it or not, cleaned the surface for upwards of 4 hours at this point.
Can't seem to get the surface any cleaner than it is.
Appears to be leaking from the top. Drove it for a few days, noticed a leak but hoped it was just a "break in" period.
Coolant ended up on my tensioners so I'm not sure if those need replaced as well.

the cheapest options btw.
gotta go fill up me and my fiances cars which should be another $150.
but it's okay I got a 1% raise earlier this year so it should even out, right? 🙄
