Frozen cherry 'salad' - Found in the back of an estate sale recipe box.

A frozen cherry salad that included crushed pineapple, cherry pie filling, Eagle Brand milk... And before she could forget, she grabbed a red pen and wrote; nuts and coconut. Along with good at the top.

Joan Flynn was happy with how this came out.

Recipe

  • 1 can crushed pineapple - drained
  • 1 can comstock cherry pie filling
  • 1 can condensed eagle brand milk
  • One large carton of Cool Whip
  • Mix all ingredients together and freeze. Can add nuts, coconut [illegible]

Canadian Green Beans

From my great-grandma’s 2001 crossword puzzle book; not an extraordinary recipe, but basically a green bean casserole ✨

My Dad used to make a similar recipe. I haven't tried this version.

Chili Rellenos

Ingredients

1 large can whole ortega chilies

1 pound Jack Cheese, grated

1 pound Cheddar cheese, grated

4 eggs

2 teaspoons flour

2 small cans evaporated milk

2 small cans tomato sauce

Method

Split chilies, de-seed an d wash. In a greased 9 x 13 inch pan, arrange chilies and  cover with Cheddar cheese. Beat together: milk, eggs and flour. Pour mixture over the chiles and cheese. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 min. Remove from oven and place Jack cheese on top then cover with tomato sauce (also sliced olives and chopped green onion if desired). Return to oven for about 10 min. Or until cheese melts. Let set 5 min. Before serving.
