We've been homeless since October 8th. This place looks rough but compared to the alternatives it's not that bad. Homeless shelters and outreach centers won't let us in the door even though she's a service animal. Whatever, don't need em anyway.
For the past 10 months we've been homeless in a state with zero friends or family. We've had our fair share of ups and downs but it looks like the worst of it is behind us! I just got a call back from my recruiter, Ophie can come with me to school! She'll even have a nice air conditioned office to chill in when I'm on the road and getting my CDL.
I'm so excited!!!!
It's been just me and my dog in a state where I knew absolutely nobody. We've faced so many obstacles but made so many wonderful friends. I just got the news that I can bring her to my CDL school this morning!
Trucking seems like the best way to kill like 4 birds with one stone. I can't wait to start this next chapter.
We're homeless in Georgia. Originally my plan was to go to the technical college nearby so I'd be free to pick my company and possibly jump ships if they were unreasonable. Unfortunately the campus that has the CDL program is way too far away and I'd be giving up too many resources here to even attempt it.
Now it's looking like my best option is to try and get recruited. I know some companies will pay for a greyhound and hotel accommodations while training. I'm not terribly excited about the prospect of being stuck with a company I might not like for a year but I think I can tough it out.
Does anybody have any advice regarding this unfortunately not too uncommon situation?
I've had my PTSD service animal for six years now. I'm looking to start a CDL program at the local college. Currently I'm running into some difficulty finding a place to have an evaluation to allow her onto campus. My previous evaluation is five years old at this point and my college needs a recent one.
I'm currently homeless with no insurance. I've called a couple places so far. One wanted a series of consultations before they would consider handing me the paperwork. The other wants somewhere between $300-$500 which is just not feasible for me. My cheapest option won't pick up the phone or call me back.
I appreciate any and all advice on how to navigate this situation.
Took the plunge years ago but recently I've become homeless and just couldn't justify paying to have my hair cut. Met some really cool dudes and they paid for my trip to the barbershop and I'm feeling ✨fresh✨
