Going back to Effexor

Hi everyone. I made a post recently asking about the efficacy of paroxetine compared to venlafaxine.

I tried paroxetine for 2 days before realizing how calm venlafaxine made me feel on 75mg only. Even though it took a while (3 months) for me to even feel slightly more relaxed. I’m hopeful that increasing my dose will be even more beneficial.

So if you’ve tried multiple medications and had no relief, Effexor could be for you 🫶🏻

Venlafaxine vs Paroxetine?

Hi everyone! I’m a 31F with GAD and agoraphobia, with a bit of OCD sprinkled in there. I am at a point where my physical symptoms are too extreme for me to manage without medication, and unfortunately my experience hasn’t been the easiest with finding the right med for me.

I wanted to share my experience to see if anyone w similar responses to me can tell me if venlafaxine or paroxetine (Effexor/Paxil) worked better for them.

Lexapro didn’t touch my anxiety and made me gain 10 kgs/20 lbs.

Prozac and Pristiq did nothing for me

I had mild improvement with Zoloft

I am now on 75 mg of Effexor and I honestly really like it, it improves my mood and has lowered my anxiety somewhat, however I wanted something to really tackle the agoraphobia aspect of my anxiety. My psychiatrist mentioned that paroxetine was very good for this, but what worries me the most is the weight gain aspect of it.

Can someone that has tried both these meds share their experience w it? Thank you!

Symptoms Improved, Then Came Back

Hello, everyone. I’m a 31F that has been diagnosed with GAD (+ panic attacks and agoraphobia) ever since starting a toxic and abusive residency program.

I’ve tried lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft and pristiq with minimal relief. I changed psychiatrists and they suggested trying Effexor. I started on 75mg, had mild symptoms but my anxiety completely vanished for 3 weeks but came back on my 4th week on it. I asked my psychiatrist to increase the dosage and the same exact thing happened. I feel extreme relief for 3 weeks then feel worse after.

Has this happened to anyone else? I just couldn’t believe that I finally found an SNRI that could help me feel normal again, but I’m feeling very disheartened by the increased anxiety. Should I just stick with it and see if it starts to work again?
