My in laws are in late 60s and I see them almost every day. They’ve been together for over 40+ years and aren’t affectionate to each other. I noticed as I give my MIL a hug, usually side hug, she holds on more and doesn’t mind me rubbing her lower back. I do try and give front hugs and hold her more as she seems to do the same to me. I have a good relationship with her too. Is that normal? I have been in the family with her daughter for 18 years.
