C214 Done in less than a week.

Trying to pay back the community that has helped me get this far in the MBA program. I just passed C214, so while everything is still fresh in my head, here’s what worked for me.

My biggest recommendation is to watch Professor V’s bootcamp video.
https://wgu.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=1f568534-9cd8-4a48-b83b-b39f000e5a6b

Professor V says himself that the book is really dense and can be a lot to get through. I didn’t read any of it. I watched the bootcamp, focused on understanding what he was teaching, and made sure I mastered the Excel portion. He says in the video that a lot of people watch the bootcamp and go straight to the test, and I can see why.

I watched the bootcamp three times. I also took the PA twice and really focused on mastering the Excel and math portions. My mindset was that those were free points if I knew exactly what I was doing, and ultimately, I think that carried me to victory.
I would also recommend really knowing the PA. For me, some questions on the OA were the same or very similar. There were also some concepts on the OA that I had never heard of before. When that happened, I slowed down, carefully read the question, and looked to see if any keywords from the question matched or connected with the answer choices. Sure enough, a lot of the time they did.

Don’t panic when you see something unfamiliar. Slow down and read exactly what the question is asking. Sometimes the question gives you more help than you realize.

There were also a few questions about DuPont analysis, which I completely spaced on, so I would definitely familiarize yourself with that before taking the OA.

That’s really all I got. Watch the bootcamp a few times. Master the Excel portion, know the PA, and focus on the math and calculation questions because those are points you can control.
Good luck to everyone still working through C214.

8 weeks to go and all I have left is C215, C211, and the Capstone.

A little off topic

Debating on getting a iPad for “on the go studying” I hate using my phone to study when I am out I can’t focus the screen is too small? Yes I have a laptop but don’t want to lug that around I use it to study at home, write papers and take OAs

Is it worth the investment?

C214 Financial Management – What should I focus on to finish quickly while actually understanding the material?

Hi everyone,
I just finished Accounting for Decision Makers in about two months, and I’m about to start C214 Financial Management.
I’d like to complete C214 as quickly as possible, but I don’t want to just memorize the material—I want to actually understand it.
For those who have already passed C214:
What were the biggest challenges you faced?
Which topics deserve the most attention?
Are there any chapters or concepts that are heavily tested on the OA?
What resources helped you the most (cohorts, recorded videos, quizzes, calculator practice, etc.)?
If you could do the course again, what would you study first, and what would you spend less time on?
My term ends at the end of September, and after C214 I still have C207, C211, C215, and then the Capstone, so I’m trying to study as efficiently as possible.
I’d really appreciate any advice or study plan that helped you pass while truly understanding the material. Thanks!

🎓 C216 MBA Capstone Done - MBA officially wrapped up!

Welp… it finally happened. I just submitted my last task and after a required revision of Task 1 and Task 2 I got my results back for Task 2 **C216**, and that means my **MBA is officially complete**. Still letting it sink in.

I don’t drink coffee, so this whole journey was powered purely by stubbornness, hydration, and the collective good vibes of everyone hanging out in this subreddit. Seriously — thank you all. The shared resources, the encouragement, the “you’ve got this” energy… it helped more than you know.

To anyone still grinding through classes: keep pushing. If I can make it to the finish line, you absolutely can too. One course at a time, one task at a time, and suddenly you’re staring at the end thinking, “Wait… did I really just do that?”

Appreciate this community more than I can say. Onward to whatever’s next! 🫡🎉🎓

I need help on choosing the right degree?

I am 34(f) and currently work in hospitality . My last job I worked as a corporate trainer , would travel to locations for different restaurants and teach new staff on the pos systems. I ended up leaving this job in 2020 due to covid and because my dad is getting older. I take time through out the week to visit him and help him with tasks, therefore traveling was not ideal.

At my current job I am always assigned to be the one who communicates with the team, whether it’s staff or managers. I truly enjoy sticking up and communicating for people who feel they don’t have a voice . I also go out of my way to provide top notch customer service because I truly enjoy reminding people that kind people still exist.

On the side ,I write appeal letters for diabetics who are being denied coverage through their insurance company as I am also diabetic and understand the struggle.

I am currently looking at sophia classes and WGU classes and I am torn at what degree to dedicate to. Realistically I would like to obtain a bachelor’s degree that would help me land a remote role with flexibility to still help my dad each week . I am torn between data analytics, hr, business management and a few others.

Has anyone from the hospitality world gained a degree from wgu and landed a flexible remote role? If so what degree did you choose?

C219 Task 1- Capstone Presentation

How many times did you have to record your presentation? Did you have to edit it when you were done? I can write just fine, but apparently I can’t read. 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

MBA

Thinking about going back for MBA. If you took it, how was your experience? How many proctored exams were there and how difficult were they?

What order do you recommend?

I started a new term today. I am finishing this degree this term. I want to push through as quickly as possible. I am going through some major life transitions, a divorce, moving, starting a full time job and adjusting to co-parenting. So needless to say, I just need to get this done!

I’m looking forward to everything but operations management 😅

Give me all of your tips, tricks, and advice for these last three classes and the capstone please 🙏

Need Motivation

Currently have 8 weeks left in my first term. Was trying to complete the entire program in one term but severely lacking motivation to push through.

Currently taking C207, completed Task 1 and working on Task 2. The course material is very bland as I’m trying to study it at the same time to prepare for the PA/OA.

Remaining classes: C207, C215, C211, and the Capstone.

My mentor told me if necessary I can file for a 30 day extension waiver for the Capstone but idk if i’ll even make it there.

Anyone have any advice to try and push through these last few classes ?

2 courses spilled into new semester

I reached out to my mentor to ask if I’d have to pay for the entire semester if my courses spill into a new semester? She said no the rest of my balance will be prorated. Turns out that the prorated cost for 7 CUs is over $4000. I genuine cannot afford that. Filled out FAFSA application and I don’t even qualify for anything. I only have the C211 and capstone left. What do I do? What options do I have?

my brain is at maximum capacity rn, i don’t recommend, but it IS possible! Don’t give up! S/O to the person who posted the study guide for c211 on here!!! I love u!!

C213 PASSED!

There are a lot of posts here saying this is the easiest course. That might be the case for some, but it wasn't for me. However, even in undergrad, accounting was one of my worst subjects, so that isn't surprising at all.

What I did to succeed:

  1. Took the PA blind. I ran my results through Claude (I know... don't come for me) and had it fill in my gaps. Once I knew where my gaps were, I knew where I needed to focus most.

  2. I watched all the videos embedded in the chapters as well as the videos in the course resources.

  3. I watched videos and quizzed myself until I had a fair grasp of the information.

I took the PA twice and failed. Took it one last time and passed. I also took all the chapter quizzes and passed those too. Once I felt like I couldn't possibly do any more than I had done, I pulled the trigger and scheduled the test.

Now, the OA is NOT a carbon copy of the PA. I had maybe 10 questions that were exact copies. Other questions were totally rephrased and you had to understand your coursework to understand the question enough to even have a chance at choosing the right one. You have plenty of time for the exam, so do not rush. Read and reread the questions and answers because some were very closely aligned and the difference between the right and wrong one could be as simple as one word.

All that is to say, take your time, study, ask for help if you need it, and you've got this!

P.S: Please don't ask me how long it took me because the answer is too damn long lol
