why does nighttime make emotions and overthinking feel stronger?

during the day distractions responsibilities conversations work social media and constant activity make everything feel more manageable mentally. but late at night when everything becomes quiet suddenly emotions thoughts regrets anxiety and random memories all start feeling way more intense for some reason. sometimes things that barely bothered me during the day suddenly feel emotionally huge at like 2 am
and its weird because logically nothing actually changed except the time of day. is there an actual psychological or biological reason the brain processes emotions so differently at night or does everyone just collectively become more dramatic after midnight?

my homeowners insurance renewal came in at 5100 this year and it was a shock

our home insurance has been increasing steadily but this latest renewal quote was ridiculous at over 5k a year. we have a fairly new house in a good area with zero claims yet the premium keeps climbing fast.

i decided to get a second opinion and did a deep review of our policy and compared options from several carriers. adjusted the coverage bundling and removed a few overpriced add-ons...

the new policy is now sitting at 2550 yearly with actually better protection overall. feels like a game changer for our monthly budget.

how often do you shop your homeowners insurance?

thanks a bunch for any advice or experiences guys appreciate it

what should I practice to play like steve vai?

I’ve been playing guitar for a while now and recently started getting really into Steve Vai. The technique, phrasing, weird sounds, all of it just blows my mind lol.

The problem is I have no idea what I should actually practice to get closer to that style. Whenever I try learning his songs, it feels way above my level and I end up just noodling around.

What exercises or techniques helped you the most for playing Vai style stuff? And is there a specific song of his that’s hard but still realistic for an intermediate player to learn?

I have been building sites with WordPress for years. Mostly brochure sites and small business stuff. But recently I took on a project that needs heavy custom data relationships. Think employee directories with filters, project portfolios linked to clients, and a booking system that pulls from multiple custom tables. I tried doing it with custom post types and ACF but the queries are getting slow and messy. I am spending more time fighting post meta than building features. I have heard people say WordPress is fine until it isn't. Then you move to Laravel or Symfony. But I don't want to overcomplicate things if I can still make WordPress work. How do you know when it is time to move away from WordPress entirely for a custom solution. Are there specific signs or performance walls that tell you to switch. I don't want to rebuild twice.

I've got a 3 bed 2 bath house in Riverview that I've owned for about 7 years now. It's around 1700 square feet with a two car garage and a decent sized backyard. The house is in good shape overall but the roof is getting older and the kitchen could use some updates.

I'm relocating for work in the next couple months so I need to sell fairly quickly without dealing with a bunch of repairs and open houses.

What are my other solid options right now for selling fast in the Tampa market?

From the outside, engineering can seem straightforward—just solve the problem efficiently—but I’m sure there are deeper considerations that people don’t always see.

What’s something non-engineers often misunderstand when it comes to how engineers approach problems or design solutions?
