Halo:Rogue-Minecraft modpack big update! (read description)

My recently put together Minecraft modpack-"Halo: Rogue" just got a big update! I've received a ton of feedback on the mod thanks to gaming news outlets like PCgamer and Windows Central posting the mod to their socials and growing its popularity. Here are a list of changes:

-Halocraft 3.0 enemies have been replaced with mobs from the curseforge mod "Halo Saga"

-A better skybox has been installed

-Switched from optifine over to embeddium

-Better structure generation

-Balancing updates (no more randomly blowing up)

-Better looking jackal shields

-Damage feedback when attacking certain enemies that would not show before

Halo: Rogue-A Minecraft modpack (OVERVIEW+UPDATE)

Halo Rogue is a Minecraft modpack I started working on about two months ago because I like to mod games into what I want them to be. I began modding Minecraft into a roguelike Halo standalone minigame because it would check a lot of boxes for me. I did not think it would lead to exactly what I envisioned for the modpack, great reception online, and even having pcgamer post it on their socials.

For those who have not heard of it before Halo Rogue plays as a roguelike minigame where you have 3 lives and must survive 5 days to win. I wanted this modpack to feel more Halo than Minecraft and I realized that there isn’t really any mod or modpack out there that does that. In Halo Rogue it is not intended for you to go around mining and crafting but instead scavenging and surviving. There is even a mod included that disables cave generation (Noble 6 would not survive).

I wanted to make this post to share new screenshots of the modpack and highlight some of the new features that have been added in the last weeks. While playing you can find 30+ weapons like the plasma rifle, rocket launcher and energy sword and you can stumble across 30+ Halo structures like a scarab, the elephant, or a bloodgulch base. All major covenant species can be encountered as well as many flood forms. I also added Halo menu sounds, replaced explosion sounds with sounds from Halo, replaced chest sounds with sounds from Halo, and finally found a way to give jackals their shields.

 Roguelike elements:

-You are constantly bombarded by the whole cast of Halo leaving little room to catch your breath. 

-If you run out of lives its game over, start a new game.

-This modpack is very challenging, if you make it to day five I am proud of you. There is no reward. You're just notified that you won. But I am proud.

I had a lot of fun making it and I still can’t decide if getting it to work or playing is more fun. Let me be clear when I say I DID NOT MAKE THESE MODS. I just put them together and got them to behave how I wanted via datapacks and configurations. I did add sounds, textures, a few of the structures that generate, and what feels like a ton of “coding” to get things to work.

Halo Rogue

Introducing Halo:Rogue-A collection of various minecraft mods and configurations put together to make a Halo themed minigame.

What this modpack is- A difficult and fast paced minigame where you spawn with a set loadout and you have 3 lives. Each day you earn a new life. If you run out of lives you must start a new run. Survive 5 days and you win. The goal is to survive as long as you can, discover various iconic Halo structures, find different weapons, and take out as many covenant and flood enemies as possible. This is a minigame, it is not intended to be played like a regular minecraft run, there is literally a mod included that disables caves.

What to know-This modpack is not perfect. On start take the syringe in your hotbar to wear the provided mjolnir armor. You cannot interact with things while you have a weapon in hand. Controller support and shaders are included although shaders can cause performance issues. Shaders can be toggled off in the video settings menu. Make sure “on screen controls” are off in the controller settings otherwise the game will crash (should be off by default) If you wish to change your starting loadout go into creative mode and give yourself whatever you wish to spawn with then type the command /csg_config set. EASY DIFFICULTY RECOMMENDED. YOU NEED TO OWN MINECRAFT.

**LATEST UPDATE: 5/11/2026-Jackals now have shields**

Installation-Simply take the Halo:Rogue.zip file and import it into curseforge in the "My Modpacks" tab (select all files not just the ones from curseforge if prompted).

Credits-It took me a long time to get all these mods working, but I know it did not take as much time than it did to actually make these mods. The main Halo mods used in this modpack are New HaloCraft 3.0, Dawn of the Flood, Halo Saga, Halo Soundtracks MC, and Halo MDE. Be sure to check out these mods out to see all of their features.
