USB CABLE CHECKER Lite Launches for $25

A cable checker that does away with the LCD screen has arrived. I've included the FNB58 for comparison. they are roughly the same size.

Strictly speaking, the information displayed by the LEDs here is actually sufficient.

Is the ATORCH T3P joining the ranks of USB testers?

It has been only two months since the T3 was released, yet here comes the next version already. What's more, the price—with the initial discount—is around $12, making it no different from the T3. Apparently, the circuitry has been expanded, so it couldn't simply be handled via a firmware update for the T3. It still feels rough around the edges; support for PD 3.1 or 3.2 seems unlikely, and the trigger function is quite unfinished. Still, I hope to see USB testers with touch-panel controls become more widespread.

The mysterious V5.5 firmware update for the WITRN K2.

Hardware revision A is a no-go, while revisions B and C are fine. Given the many limitations—such as the original UL004 model being incompatible—one has to wonder just how much demand there really is for D+/D- resistance readings. It certainly looks like a tip update designed with the ALIENTEK OA1 in mind.

K2 V5.5 (2026.07.01)

* Added database recognition for 6A Cuktech (ZMI) cables on the home screen

* Added a new database for iPhone and other Apple devices

* Added a "Virtual 8-Wire Kelvin Measurement" option for cable resistance testing

Supports separate measurements for total cable resistance as well as individual resistance for the positive and negative lines

Requires the CT001/CT003 cable resistance measurement kit (the first-generation UL004 is not supported)

This feature is not supported on the K2 Version A DVT (beta) unit (fully supported on Versions B and C)

Virtual 8-Wire Kelvin measurement utilizes dual-channel differential sensing; it offers high accuracy and requires no calibration

Note: Third-party accessories have not been tested and may not be compatible with this feature

Kelvin Option Now Supported on ALIENTEK C0

Following the C2, the C0 now also supports the Kelvin option. Moreover, looking at the C0's display, the VBUS and GND lines are independent—a feature rarely, if ever, seen in cable checkers before.

The C2 also features a menu that appears capable of displaying resistance between other terminals. One wonders just how sophisticated the Kelvin resistance option they release will be.

Firmware Update

v1.2 2026.06.27

  1. New capacity statistics mode setting added to the menu
  2. Screen rotation mode setting added to the menu
  3. Backlight brightness setting added to the menu
  4. Added Kelvin line resistance measurement function
  5. Updated V1.3 user manual

The new ATROCH T3P

It looks like they’re finally making a move into the USB tester market. That said, I don't really trust ATROCH's analysis capabilities. I just hope they’ve learned from their past mistakes.

The new T3P blue touchscreen version with fast charging protocol detection is now available! It features full functionality including protocol detection, protocol deception, and E-Marker data cable reading! See the interface image below; more detailed interface images will be updated soon!

*In the T3P project, engineers at Torchtech Technology broke with traditional design, pioneering the use of a 2.5D curved tempered glass capacitive multi-touch screen with the same manufacturing process as mobile phone screens. The hardware features a 16-bit independent ADC sampling chip, a PD3.2 protocol detection chip, a D+D full protocol detection chip, a data cable E-marker information reading chip, a high-precision digital triaxial accelerometer, a digital pressure sensor, a barometric altimeter, and a sound field pickup sensor, paired with a 32-bit Bluetooth SOC main controller, a high-efficiency DC-DC switching power supply, and metal Karma low-temperature drift precision sampling devices.

*With its high-end hardware configuration, the T3P not only achieves high-precision bidirectional voltage and current measurement, but also supports professional functions such as protocol detection, protocol spoofing, data line E-marker information reading, curve plotting, power ripple measurement, line resistance measurement, peak/average value recording, capacity calculation, and computer HID and Bluetooth data transmission; it also comes with practical extended applications such as a music spectrum analyzer, decibel meter, level, barometer, altimeter, and fun interactive games.

The touchscreen provides a smoother and more intuitive human-computer interaction, while the built-in large-capacity ROM also provides ample space for subsequent free firmware upgrades and continuous functional expansion.

I put together a list of the MCUs used in the USB testers I own.

Looking at it again, I’m surprised to see that the KM003C and KWS-X1 share the same MCU. Was CC1 the weakest?

Is it normal for pin 25 of the CH341 to be unconnected?

I received a CH341 that I ordered from AliExpress. I'm having trouble reading the chip properly. Could the problem be that pin 25 of this CH341 is not conducting? Or is it okay for this pin to be unconnected?

Images of the ALIENTEK C2-C1 have finally leaked!

Is the model number ALIENTEK C2-C1 correct?

As expected, it has a chip installed. I immediately fed the images into chatGPT. They say the release date is late June to early July. Please don't delay it any further. Hopefully, the price will stay around $10.

ALIENTEK C2 Kelvin-based cable resistance measurement is imminent.

The latest firmware, 2.3.9, includes a Kelvin option menu. It looks like it's finally going to be released.

It seems they didn't make it compatible with WITRN or RYKEN.

I can't enter service mode on my Canon MG6530.

Am I following the wrong procedure? The tool shows error 005.

There are also many non-standard converters.

I found this many connectors when I was organizing the ones without wires.

Some of these came as a bonus with the Kelvin resistance measurement option.

Of these, the one that appears most frequently is probably Type-C to Micro-B.

ALIENTEK C2 V2.3.5 supports eMarker copying.

The evolution of the ALIENTEK C2 is unstoppable. There's no time to be releasing the C0. I bet even WITRN is surprised.

V2.3.5

  1. Adjusted the automatic detection and triggering options for better handling of different charging heads.
  2. Optimized some VFCP triggering and detection, now displaying the charging speed and other information.
  3. Supports copying eMarkers. When an eMarker is detected, a pop-up window appears after middle-clicking; clicking again copies the eMarker, supporting a maximum of two copies.
  4. Resolved issue where the host computer's detection triggering did not respond based on the eMarker settings.
  5. Other optimizations.

I'm looking for a receptacle with the smallest possible 5.1kΩ pull-down resistor.

Even now, cheap Chinese-made equipment often lacks the required pull-down resistor, which is frustrating. Recently, adapters like HaGiBiS have been released, but I'd prefer to have it built-in rather than attached to the cable.

Extremely short receptacles are difficult to solder, and the small contact area makes them unreliable for durability once fixed in place. I found this on AliExpress. It looks like it might just barely fit. I guess the only way to fix it in place is to solidify it with epoxy resin.

Do any of you have a good replacement method?

Following the ATORCH T3 and ALIENTEK C0, the RYKEN RK-X3se has arrived. It uses the CH32L103 chip, and it's impressive that it manages to do so well with a 64KB program. However, like the WITRN CC1, it required two different firmware versions.

Will the market continue to be divided into these inexpensive, feature-limited types and high-priced, feature-rich types?

In this age of smartphones, why are USB testers still forced to use confusing four-button controls? The ATORCH T3 frees you from this frustration. While it boasts the same 1.54-inch 240x240 pixel screen as the KM003C and ALIENTEK C2, it features a touchscreen.

Screen transitions are also remarkably smooth. Available for just over $10, it lacks features like eMarker or charging protocol analysis.

Let's dream of a future where USB testers no longer require four buttons.
