BUS 335 Final

I'm a bit confused — is the final for BUS 335 supposed to be a PowerPoint or Word file? It seems weird to me that an employee handbook would be in PowerPoint format. I've seen different people saying they've submitted Word documents and PowerPoints. There's no mention of a PowerPoint in the instructions until the very end and it's "make sure the files are converted to a ppt, pptx file. (you can share Google Doc and MS OneDrive documents from the “Choose Existing Activities” button)."

Does anyone have PDFs for Spanish 2?

Been looking for these and haven’t seen anyone who has them. PDFs are so much easier to use than the web pages.

How is it possible utilize the full 8 weeks of a YourPace session?

So each session is a few days shy of 8 full weeks, but the deadline to submit a draft final is the week before the session ends, and obviously you have to have all of your milestones graded before you can turn in the draft final, so every milestone needs to be in at least 72 hours before that, preferably sooner in case the instructor takes longer than 72 hours to grade or changes are needed to pass the milestone, which would require more waiting to get that grade back before you can submit the draft final. So really, you get more like 6 usable weeks in a session. Or am I missing something? I know you can turn in a final up until the last day without submitting a draft but that seems like a really risky move to me.

Enrolling in new courses

When they say you can have four courses open at one time, do they really mean you can only work on two courses at once? I haven't turned in draft finals yet but I'm getting ready to wrap up a few courses now (the only two I'm currently enrolled in). When I sent a request to open a new course before the weekend, they said I had to send them email confirmation of me submitting my final for one of my current courses. I thought you could actually work on up to four at a time.

How are people getting through so fast?

ETA: I'm not talking about when people work nonstop to finish a class every five-ish days. I understand how that works. It's a lot but it's definitely doable to put in the necessary work when you make your process as efficient as possible and you have time for it. And the amount of time and effort put in is comparable to a traditionally-paced university course, just incredibly condensed. I was only talking about people finishing 5-6 classes in ONE WEEK. If they're counting CLEP testing and Sophia in there along with university classes, okay, it's a lot but not impossible. If we're talking all university courses then that's when I'm just left scratching my head.

How in the world are people saying they've completed five plus classes in their first week? I'm taking classes that people claim they've done in one day and I've been working on just the first milestone all day and still haven't finished. Every class here seems to have around four essays and/or projects. Even if you're writing about a subject that you know extremely well, that's an insanely fast pace to write. I'm a writer and can't write anywhere near that fast. How are people doing this?

Turnitin question

Has anyone had to resubmit a milestone but instead of making a few changes based on feedback had to write a different paper completely from scratch because your new one is now a 100 percent match (or close to it) to your original paper on Turnitin? I’m writing a whole new paper obviously on the same content/topic and having to avoid any similarities to my original paper because of this.

Upper-level English/MCS courses

Can anyone with experience taking upper-level English or Media and Cultural Studies courses through YourPace give any insight into which of them are less time-consuming or difficult than others?

Can’t use Credly to transfer Sophia credits to UMPI

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but FYI, if your Sophia account is associated with UMPI like mine is, you can’t use Credly to transfer your Sophia credits. You have to go through Parchment. I’m pasting Sophia’s response to my inquiry about it below if anybody wants more info. Sophia said in this email that UMPI doesn’t want Sophia credits going through Credly even though UMPI told me yesterday I could use Credly or Parchment. Not a big deal — just putting this out there in case anyone has the same issue.

-----

Your ACE badges are not being issued automatically because your Sophia account is currently associated with the University of Maine at Presque Isle. As of May 4th, 2026, UMPI now requires Sophia Learning official transcripts to be sent to them through Parchment for course credits to be transferred. I will list out the steps you will need to follow for this process below. While they may have accepted transcript/badges through Credly in the past, they now ask all Sophia Learning transcripts to be sent to them via Parchment, as Credly transcripts worsen their backlog and delay the processing of course credits for all learners.

Please note-  UMPI asks learners to please refrain from placing a Parchment order until they've completed all of the Sophia courses they plan to transfer to their program.

If you are needing to send a transcript from us to a different institution in the future, the process for sending your transcript will vary by the institution receiving it. You will need to reach out to us via support@sophia.org with the name of the institution, and we can advise on how best to send your transcript to them.

You can order your official transcript via Parchment, using this URL: https://www.parchment.com/u/registration/32467582/account

If you've never used Parchment before, you'll create a new learner account and you will first need to add Sophia Learning, LLC as the organization that you've attended.

Once you've added Sophia Learning, you will see options to select Sophia Transcript or Sophia Foundations. Please select the Sophia Transcript option. Then you will see a green "Order" button within your dashboard on Parchment. From there, you will be able to search for University of Maine at Presque Isle.

After which, you may order your transcript. We recommend the option of electronic delivery, which costs $5.25. However, you may also select Print/US Mail (5-7 business days): $7.75 or FedEx US Overnight: $32.75. Transcript processing fees must be paid by credit or debit card at the time of order. Parchment is FERPA-compliant and follows all federal regulations for the privacy of educational records.

If you run into any issues with this or have further questions about how to order your transcript through Parchment, you can reach out to Parchment support here: https://www.parchment.com/chat-support/
