Can we request another advisor?
Can we be reassigned another advisor? I have Cody Humphrey and he isn't very responsive 🥲

Is Master’s degree format is similar to Bachelor degree? Milestones and Final? Any feedback is appreciated.
So I am a older learner or student whatnot and I have not taken classes on line before. I am looking for all suggestions you may have for someone who is starting out (all over again lol)
I think most of the "work" is done in bright space ? I am taking an English class and this is all so many different platforms - I am sure once I get into things I will see how they are all connected but for now I am a bit confused. Any guidance for this older lady ??
I'm following the advice given here by Christie u/plottedpath and upon entering my very first class on Brightspace...there is nothing under the first milestone. It's Intro to Project Management and I've read, too, that the milestones are definitely there bc they build into the final assessment (15-20pg paper). Any tips? Is this a glitch or does it unlock once I finish the quiz? :(
I about to take some Sophia classes to transfer into UMPI in the future and I have 5 classes I’m going to take through Sophia. Do you think 5 classes is doable in 1 month or will it take multiple sessions. I work full time overnights and give out food to the homeless every Monday and Wednesday 3-5.
Hello, I think I’ve messed up. I'm starting Summer 2 today (July 6th). I filled out the 2026-2027 FAFSA thinking it would cover this term, I see Fall and Spring, but my Summer balance is showing $1,800 due with $0 in aid…I was assuming the Pell grant and student loans would be starting this term…. Am I screwed pretty much?
Thanks!
This is probably a dumb question, so I apologize in advance! I’ve tried googling around, but am unsure exactly what this means.
I do know you must take 30 credits at UMPI to establish residency, and 12 must be related to your major, of which 9 must be upper level.
My question is what exactly counts as “the major” for the BLS. Does this only include the 24 upper level credits needed, or does it also include any of the required minor or lower level elective credits?
If it does only include the 24 upper level credits, this would mean that all 12 at UMPI would have to be upper level, instead of 9, right?
Thank you!!!!
Hello guys,i have a question. According to my graduation requirements, I need to finish 36 credit hours, but I only have 10 courses open in my degree progress report. Does this mean I have to add 2 more courses to finish my studies and graduate?
Additional information, i transferred 156 credits in total
Thank you for the answers in advance
If I am not automatically enrolled, do they allow late enrollment for Summer Session 2? I completed Summer Session 1 and noticed that I am not currently enrolled in any classes for Session 2. I only have a few classes remaining, so I am hoping to avoid having to wait until the fall term begins in eight weeks. Thank you for your help.
For those who graduated with psychology major at UMPI did you end up doing your master degree with UMPI as well? If so which one did you choose?
Am I too late to change my enrollment to the Fall session if my FAFSA doesn't go through in time?
I signed up for the summer 2 session that starts on July 6th and didn't know that I needed to send over the FAFSA for 2025-2026 to get the bill covered. I thought I had needed to send over the 2026-2027. I didn't know that until a day after the deadline UMPI gave me to get that transferred over.
I do not have any income at the moment that I can put towards schooling. I'm disabled and all my income goes to my living arrangements. The Pell grant was how I was going to pay for it.
I emailed my advisor and told them that I listed UMPI as the school that my grants will go to for the 2025-2026 year, and I asked if it would go through even if I was a day past the deadline. I heard no response yet, (of course, because it is the 4th of July weekend). I also asked if it is too late for me to switch over the fall session, since I have the 2026-2027 FAFSA in their system already.
I've been keeping an eye on my bill every day. It still shows that I owe the $1,800 for the session.
I have no clue how any of this works, but I don't want to lose my opportunity to get a degree or have to owe money that I can't pay back.
What do I do?
First I’m going to take full accountability. Deadlines are deadlines. Playing Russian roulette to turn in last minute work isn’t a good idea, and you face the chance of low grades or even failing. However, I need to vent.
Session 1 was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. I deal with chronic depression amongst other mental health issues, and my depression was worse than ever these last few months due to some personal challenges. It also took a toll on my physical health. I barely had energy to get out of bed for weeks. So unfortunately, I did cram two classes into the last two weeks of the term. However, even in my cramming, I still put forth my best efforts. All nighters every night. So much caffeine my eye was twitching 😭. I didn’t rush and do sloppy work. I really tried.
I’ve always been a strong writer, and done well with UMPI thus far. Ive taken numerous English & psychology classes and done great. Great feedback. I was excited to take an art class because art is my passion. So I thought it’d be fun. I couldn’t have imagined this experience. NOTHING I did was good enough. Two of four of my milestones got kicked back for having “not enough details” on visuals. Although again, I’m a very detailed and thorough writer.
I fixed my milestones as soon as she kicked them back. My last milestone, she kicked back Wednesday and I addressed her feedback directly. She never responded. I emailed her Thursday early afternoon to follow up. Nothing. So yet and still, I did my final and emailed it to her explaining my situation. She just got back to me saying that not only is my final “incomplete” but that my last revised milestone STILL isn’t good enough. And she said she can’t take an email submission anyway, and she said that cramming is not good.
I am livid. Again, I put myself in this boat. But I’ve worked so hard. I’ve been a deans list student every semester. I can’t believe of all things???? An art class is going to ruin this for me.
Is it worth escalating to my advisor? Ugh. Any advice and encouragement is much appreciated. 🥺 this hurts
My first term I was only able to get 4 classes done. After getting the hang of it, I was able to get 18 done the next term.
The classes I would not recommend taking at UMPI are Business Analytics 440 & Human Biology 105. The instructor for BUS 440 is an interesting guy to say the least. All my classes averaged 3 days to complete, but for some reason, BUS 440 lasted the entire term. A class similar to that was BUS 200 for me last term even though I’m already Microsoft Certified and mentioned half a dozen times it’s like it didn’t matter. Anyways, I just completed IBM Data Analyst Professional Certification at Coursera for $49. It came with a 7-day free trial. I could have completed all 11 courses in 2-3 days but I finished in 4. Claims of it taking 2-4 months is a lie. You can go at your own pace based on what you already know. Folks on Reddit and elsewhere have a way of discouraging others from taking it. Each of the 11 courses took me about 1-4 hours to complete. Everything in the course is not peer reviewed. As of today, you have the option to have everything graded by AI instantly (better than waiting for a UMPI instructor to give feedback that may or may not make sense). The certificate is instantly generated after you complete the course. As for BIO 105, it is confirmed that one can instead elect for Human Biology at Sophia and Human Biology Lab as well at Sophia. There is 2 Touchstones in Human Biology at Sophia and I think about 4-6 quizzes from what I recall. The Touchstones are a series of relatively short questions. I knocked the course out in about 3 hours. As for the lab, it can be done in about the same amount of time. It’s much better than waiting on lab(s) to be mailed to you for BIO 105 and waiting for grading. What’s very misleading about BIO 105 is it’ll seem like there’s only 1 lab but there’s more of the course that isn’t revealed until the instructor grades the lab. Bio 105 lab(s) involve dissecting an owl pellet. Sophia’s lab is like a virtual game/simulation on various forms of anatomy and biology and is actually surprisingly more informative IMO.
That being said, my strategy to getting 18 courses done this term was by not letting any instructor slow me down with revisions. If it wasn’t about a new assignment or class enrollment I wasn’t interested. I ended up doing CDL school (there 8 hours a day) and full time college at the same time. You’d be surprised how much homework can get done on an hour lunch break, downtime at work, while at the library or Barnes & Noble vs at home.
Don’t risk your GPA on 440 or 105. Take some of what’s said here with a grain of salt. It’s not even that these are hard courses, it’s just the way the instructors exercise judgment. Use spreadsheets, numbers, or sheets to track all your classes and grades (green for submitted, yellow for revision required, etc.). Use notes as well as a backup for tracking classes. Organization is key. Also, be kind to the professors. If there ever becomes an issue, email them immediately, but be professional. We’d be surprised how much our emotions can set us back academically. Also, if you’re stuck in a revisions dilemma (3-6 submissions of more) consider redoing the entire assignment from scratch - but know when to set it aside to avoid it from impeding on time given to other classes/assignments (overall progression).
So end of story, 20 classes at UMPI, 20 at Sophia, 1 at Coursera (of which they count as 11) since Jan. of 2026 plus CDL school. I’m now a commercial driver, (oh I forgot I also did OSHA 10 & CPR in the same account of time), a UofMaine grad, and I’ll be starting my Masters of Business Administration. Afterwards I’ll be pursuing my PhD. All together so far this year I’m at 45-55 courses depending on how you count it. Anything is possible.
(Always network regarding transfer equivalents to avoid being misguided. The main reason for my post was to educate fellow students about transfer equivalents. More awareness = more opportunities = you not being at an instructors mercy. Funny enough, my Final in BUS 440 was on the topic of Equal Opportunity, that’s what this post is about, making sure everyone is more aware of educational opportunities than they were yesterday. That includes giving the exact name
of the transfer equivalents, the exact nature, the exact expectation of time one may commit to it, the exact price, etc..)
Here is the email between my advisor and I from July 1st. Hopefully we hear something soon!
It took me a much longer time due to being disabled to finally finish my bachelor's degree and I've tried many times until I finally found this school.
I am not sure how to feel honestly and it's starting to hit me that I finished. I never thought after the first time that I dropped out of University that I would ever be able to finish.
I have done a lot throughout my career entrepreneurially after hitting rock bottom when I first dropped out. I have learned a lot of skills which has led to me being able to live a digital nomad lifestyle for a while but this will be one of many degrees that I would get.
Now I'm waiting to start my masters of arts and organizational leadership and I also want to take the Masters in American studies after that. I'm also looking into MBA programs that are not online but are in schools in Asia specifically due to special scholarships that I can get being a citizen of the country that I am originally from.
But overall I feel even though I accomplish something that there's still much more from me to accomplish but just recently it finally hit me that I did do something positive that will change the trajectory of my life because I chose to put in the effort and show that I am capable of doing something that 5 years ago I would have never thought was possible.
I just started my BBA in Supply Chain Management. I transferred 90 credits, so I only have 30 credits (10 classes) left, and my goal is to finish everything in one 8-week session.
I’m starting with these courses:
FYS YP1 – YourPace Orientation
BUS 203 – Intro to AI
BUS 218 – Materials & Inventory Management
BUS 240 – Change Management
BUS 260 – Leadership
Has anyone taken these courses? Which ones are the easiest or most difficult? Any tips for passing them quickly, recommended instructors, or things to watch out for? I’d really appreciate any advice from people who have completed these classes. Thanks!
I'm feeling a little sad and nervous and I know it's not ones fault but my own. I finished a milestone on Tuesday and I thought I hit submit but I guess I didnt. I only noticed today because when I tried to submit my final it wouldn't let me. I then realized I never hit submit on the milestone.
I submitted the milestone then reached out to the professor via email explaining and he never responded or graded that milestone so my final never unlocked. I emailed him again with the final attached (before the 11:59 pm deadline).
I'm just afraid he won't accept it. Has anyone been through this and the professor accepted it?
If it helps it was for psy360 animal behavior with Jenkins.
Because my ENV110 professor has ghosted me, I am unable to submit my final. Additionally, ART108 professor has failed my final despite following the rubric and having 4's on all milestones. Appeals have been filed with screenshots.
Does anyone here have experience successfully getting a grade appealed and changed that is unrelated to grief/family, etc.?
