Should I just cut off the top part so I can put a rod tip on the 1.6mm rod tip to replace the ring guide? or is it wise to get a 1.2mm rod tip instead.

Vintage Fishing Rod
Recently thrifted an old fishing rod I could restore which I assume is a Carbon Graphite NFT(Nippon Fishing Tackle) power loop 15ft rod.
Asking how much these things cost and can I still use it for light-moderate freshwater lake fishing?
