A personal anecdote about Tony’s ‘food poisoning’
This is not a shitpost.
I know that it is often discussed if Tony actually had food poisoning in S2E13. While some people believe he actually had food poisoning, and debate whether it was the Indian food or Artie’s seafood, others believe it was his body giving off a psychosomatic reaction.
‘Psychological stress can upset the stomach. For example, being very scared before a test or a big speech can cause nausea. Tony's subconscious is trying to force him to accept the terrible truth about Pussy, causing extreme physical illness.’ - from some reddit thread
I think I have a kind of funny personal anecdote on this situation. Im sorry if this breaks rule 3, but I feel I have to share this.
Its the 2024 elections season in the US. This post is really not about politics, and please do not discuss politics under this post. It does not matter what politics you believe in, its just a funny story thats related to the show.
Up until a few months before the election, I am of the firm belief that Harris would win the election. One time in class, when I had nothing to do, I decided to check polling averages like I had regularly done every day for the past few months.
Then I noticed that Harris was actually falling pretty rapidly. And worse still, she was actually behind on Clinton in 2016. I still kind of believe she will win, though.
A week or some more later, I eat sushi in a restaurant with my family. The following morning, I wake up feeling sad about something indescribable. Then I suddenly get really, really nauseous out of nowhere, I run to the toilet and barf like I had never barfed before.
I was the sickest I had ever been. For the following two weeks, I was flaring in and out of consciousness, constantly in bed, constantly barfing. It was really bad. And I was angry at the Japanese.
Then, around the time my sickness was clearing up, I woke up early one morning (unwillingly) and decided to check how the election results were looking. Slowly but surely it was getting clear that he had won. And I wasn’t even really shocked or anything, even though I believed she would win.
I just thought this experience was really comparable to Tony’s food poisoning around the time he was realizing that Pussy was a rat. This all happened before I had even watched the show.
This might break rule 3, but I hope the mods will have mercy on me and see that the politics here is just background to a personal anecdote about the show. Please dont be stupid and start talking about politics under this post.
