Need help choosing a laptop for university
I'm going to be a university student hopefully in September. I need a laptop which is light and not too thick although I don't mind it having a large (ie 16 inch) profile. I'd like it to be able to run games recently well since Id love to play some heavy games on it if I could. I'm rlly lost though since I'm a beginner in this space so I have no idea how to begin looking since all the specs are confusing and I'd just like the best performance with decent battery life possible in the thin profile I'm searching for within my budget ofc. I can spend up to 2.5k USD. Any help, guidance or recommendations would be really appreciated. Thank you so much. I've filled the form out too to the best of my ability.
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
2.5k Usd. I'm in the Us but idm ordering on Amazon etc.
Are you open to refurbs/used?
Ideally I'd like it to be new
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I think build quality and it being thin and light is number one. Then I'd like to optimize performance withing those constraints and my budget constraints so as much as possible really. That's definitely my second priority. Not too bothered about battery life as long as it won't die in 2 hours.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Like I said, it's a shared top priority with performance.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
16 inches but I wouldn't mind smaller
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I'd be gaming running anything from cyberpunk to Minecraft rlly.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Again I'm really sorry but I'm not very tech savvy so as high as realistically possible while meeting the other criteria?
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I don't need touch screen. A decent keyboard would be nice ig but I doubt I'd know the difference really.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Thanks so much for any help. I'm sorry my answers are so vague and probably unhelpful.
