2017 Chrome Delete Vinyl Wrap

Good way to spend an afternoon. About 3 hours taking my time. Never done wrapping before but wasn’t too tricky. Shoutout to my mrs for the use of her hairdryer 😂

Just got my Dudu7 setup

Going to be spending the next few weeks learning what this bad boy can do. Wondering if anyone had any tips or learnings that made their experience any better?

Kicker Hideaway Sub + Dudu7 Head Unit

Just wired up my Dudu7 head unit in my 2017 Subaru Forester and connected my Kicker Hideaway HS8 but I'm having some issues 🫠

Everything is wired up correctly, have checked a couple times there's nothing unplugged etc

I'm getting power to the sub (the LED is lighting up) but it just doesn't seem to be talking to my head unit? I've turned the subwoofer volume up in the head unit settings but all I'm feeling is the bass from the stock speakers.

2nd pic is the cable that came with my head unit
3rd pic is the input map for the cable.
4th pic is my power supply
5th pic is the input map for that cable

From my kicker harness, I have the 12v cable running into the head unit's power supply, power onto my car battery in the engine bay, signal cables soldered and running into a stereo RCA-Y splitter cable plugged into the green female RCA in pic 2 (A16 labelled Subwoofer) and my grounding cable wired onto my car seat bolt.

The sub also has a remote/knob to turn the sub up and down. When I twist it, it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I'm wondering if I may have damaged the AUX cable during installation but also it should still be working with or without the sub remote. This all worked fine in my last car so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

I have done the deed

2017 2.0L XT Premium model. Purchased off an old lady who was the 1st and only owner. Not a Japanese import, brand new in my country. Hauls absolute ass

Going to start by ordering a Dudu7, tinting the windows and getting the paint touched up.

Any suggested mods? Won’t be doing any off-roading or adventuring in it 😂 mainly after comfort, coolness and anything that might add some extra lifespan

Aftermarket head units

So I just purchased a 2017 Forester XT Premium

One of the first things I want to do is get a new modern head unit. I’m tossing up between a Dudu7 and a Teyes CC4 Pro. I don’t mind paying extra for quality as my last cars’ unit was super slow and drove me mad.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for these products or something similar?

My main preferences are something that has a good handshake with the car’s OS features while also being reliable and won’t crap out after 6-12 months. Anything else is a bonus

Cheers!

Dudu7 vs Teyes CC4 Pro

I just purchased a 2017 Subaru forester and I’m having trouble deciding between the 2 head units

I don’t mind paying for quality as my last car had a very slow and painful head unit that drove me nuts.

I’m not too fussed on slight audio quality differences mainly on performance, longevity and that it will have a clean handshake with all of my forester’s features. I.e eyesight, lane assist etc

Anyone have any experience or done their own research on the two?

Help me weigh my options to buy a Forester

Basically,

I'm looking at 2 options not far from where I live.

Option 1 - 2015 XT 60,000kms Japan import for about $12,300 USD via a dealer

Option 2 - 2017 XT 72,000kms New in my country (NZ) for about $12,560 USD private sale

Looks like cosmetically the 2015 is in a bit better condition. Probably as it's fresh off the boat and it's had a grooming through the dealership. However I like the idea that the 2017 is slightly newer and was purchased new in my country so I won't have to deal with a Japanese menu if that's a thing with these.

I'm wanting something I can have fun in, modify here and there, but ultimately will be reliable for the next 5+ years.

Let me know what you think!

AITA for wanting to tell my wife to stop baking because of the cost of ingredients these days?

So, my wife WFH every day. She has a great job working in insurance and spends most of the day baking and about 2-3 hours answering emails and calls. She's super efficient and finishes all of her work before midday so she can get into what she loves most - baking.

When we met she never really had any hobbies and I always pushed her to get into something. I've got ADHD so as you can imagine I have a tonne of interests and am always bouncing around finding something new to get obsessed with. During Covid we really got into watching MasterChef and so she decided to start dipping her toes into baking as I'm sure a lot of people did.

Fast forward to now and we now have a spare room dedicated entirely to all of her baking equipment. I'd say there's maybe $50k NZD worth of stuff in there. Ranging from cake mixers, thermomixes, a tonne of different baking trays and containers etc. Because she works from home I don't see most of the stuff she orders online arriving. What started as a small shelf quickly evolved into me having to buy 4 heavy duty shelving units to hold everything.

Anyway, in our country, the prices of certain things have skyrocketed in recent 1-2 years. Butter and eggs have become somewhat of a delicacy. Our fridge is constantly full of butter and baking goods. She bakes a lot, and before you ask no I don't eat it that often. I recently lost 20kg and one of the big things that helped me do this was being firm with not eating the baking lol our housemates however love it. I work in the office 4 days a week and it's to the point now where it's my morning routine to grab whatever baking she's done to take with me into the office for my workmates to eat.

Recently, one of my workmates asked her to cater for his baby shower and placed an order of $100 worth of baking. This morning as I was leaving I asked her what I was taking for him and she presented to me what I would consider to be about $300 worth of baking. Definitely costing us more in ingredients and time than what he was giving us.

AITA for wanting to tell her to slow down on the baking? We're at the point in our lives where we need to be looking at buying a house and settling down but we're constantly working our way out of debt and I really think a big portion of it is baking purchases racking up on our credit card. We share finances but as she setup our credit card I can't actually see her transactions only my own. I'm happy she's found a hobby she enjoys but I'm worried I'm going to sound unsupportive by talking to her about this.

TL;DR - My wife spends a tonne of money on baking goods and equipment and I'm thinking about talking to her about slowing way down and possibly setting a budget.
