house rental

house rental

Hi all - moved into a house rental from out of state. I was able to have a friend walk through it before signing but couldn’t see it myself.

drove 12 hours with a toddler and infant to find the house gross… it obviously hadn’t been cleaned. There were dead bugs and cobwebs. I complained immediately. I also suspect a slight issue with cockroaches. They said it was my responsibility. I LOLed at them and insisted via state law that they remedy the situation. (Fingers crossed).

Now onto my question. We done a thorough clean ourselves and got rent reduced. But whenever I shower in the primary bathroom the heat and… humidity does this to the walls. It’s like they’re weeping….

First does anyone know what this could be.
Second is it a health hazard to my kiddos.

Thank you all!

American van Lines priority clause

Hey all - about three weeks ago our families furniture was picked up in Ohio for a move to Florida. Our original window for delivery was July 31-7th.

The first person we talked to on the phone said it would be 3-5 business days from pick up. We thought… great. The estimate was inline with every other estimate but delivery in there would be two days sooner…

I missed the fine print that says actually they have up until 30 days from the end of the window (7th) to deliver stuff. We called Wednesday. Turns out our stuff is sitting in a warehouse in Maryland. They said they could tell us more today. We called today, they said they’ll have info for us Tuesday.

At this point I don’t believe a word they’re saying. They have a clause in the contract that gives you “premium” delivery. Has anyone gone this route?

They have literally all my family’s belongings. Living in an empty house with an air stress for the toddler and two
Cribs for the twins has me on the verge of a mental
Breakdown. Has anyone used the “premium clause” for van lines?

Any experience with these daycares?

Hello! We’re moving from out of state. I’m looking to find care for my 9 month old daughter and 3 year old son. I was going to request a tour of primrose school, Goddard of huntersville and little scholars of Kannapolis. Since I can’t see these places in person, I was turning to the court of public opinion.

Does anyone within this sub have experiences with these three daycares?

Thanks!!

Daycare options

Hi all,

We’re moving to Huntersville and are seeking a daycare. We have an upcoming tour with Little Scholars, Primrose and Goddard.

Does anyone have recent experience with any of these places? Hard to get a feeling when you can’t see them personally.

TIA.

What the heck is this thing?

Long story short - I live in a house where the previous owner was very into DIY without maybe having the skillset to back it up (or maybe they just don’t have an eye for detail - who am I to say?)

I went to replace a bulb in an overhead bathroom light
Fixture and found the glass sconce resting on the bulb. Upon further inspection, the sconce next to it has one of these rings securing it in place. I went to Home Depot and got a conduit nut (I bought two: one inch and a one 1/4 inch.) Neither of them fit. (1” too small and 1-1/4 inch a touch too large).

Did I buy the wrong thing? Is there such a size as 1 and 1/8?

Any help is appreciated!!

Wood cabinets in kitchen lol

Hi all.

Trying to clean my cabinets before selling my house. I tried dawn which didn’t work. I also tried Murphys wood cleaner and now have this weird residue. I feel like I’m
Making this way harder than it has to be.

Any tips on how to clean these? They turn white whenever wet, they’re above the stove so some grease build up is there. Any tips welcome!!

Thank
You!!

I originally learned to code in Matlab (very frustrating to learn that matlab is such an expensive license it’s only helpful in school).

This may be a very stupid question, but in matlab you can type out individual lines of code in the command window. I would write code there and play around with it before committing it to a saved function. Does Python have similar capabilities? Do I have to run it in debug mode?

Thanks - sorry for the basic Q!
