City budget approved

The City Council approved this next year's budget for Moscow. You can view the budget and learn about the budgeting process here:

https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/386/Budgets-Audits

It passed despite the efforts of several kirkers making public statements at Monday's meeting. Of note was an NSA student who has only been in our community for one year, but somehow knows how best to spend our money. Another kirker implied that her ankle injury, which requires her to go to the Mayo clinic, was caused by potholes while riding her bike. She's been in Moscow for a little over two years and arrived in town wearing a boot on her ankle. Typical insincere deception from the kirker crowd.

Most community members applaud the City administration and Council for doing the tough work of putting forth a well rounded budget that considers the health and safety of it's residents, while also being mindful of why Moscow has been recognized as one of the best 100 small art towns in America.

Prop 1

Idaho is one of only 5 states with an abortion ban so extreme it contains NO exceptions for the health of the mother. Women in Idaho are cruelly and senselessly forced to carry doomed pregnancies, even at the risk of their own health and life.

We can change this. We can protect patients and their doctors, ensure health-saving care, and get the government out of private medical decisions.

This November, Idahoans can vote YES on Proposition One.

Stop the cruelty imposed by out of touch Idaho legislators. Help bring physicians back to Idaho.

PCE hits 4% after increasing 0.4 for June

The Personal Consumption Expenditures index jumped up 0.4% for the month which puts the annual PCE at 4%. The PCE is used by the Fed to gauge inflation, and has been steadily increasing, largely due to high energy costs, but also tariffs and weakening consumer confidence.

Artwalk

Anyone else go to the final Artwalk yesterday? I'm guessing not, because it was the least attended I've ever seen. Main St was blocked off from 3rd to 6th, but sometimes there would only be half a dozen people in a block. In years past this event was packed, and they closed down the street from A St to 6th.

The art was there, and all of it was very impressive. Too bad for the artists that they didn't get the exposure they usually do. And the live music at Friendship Square was great. I was happy to see that one person dancing.

Any ideas why it was so poorly attended? Is it because it's being run by the Chamber of Commerce now? Or because they held it on a Saturday, instead of a Thursday like in the past?

I really miss the old Artwalk.

Every Idahoan needs to sign their name in support of the Reproductive Freedom Act.

"Laws that prevent physicians from delivering high-quality, evidence-based care drive skilled specialists from our state — 94 obstetricians left Idaho between 2022 and 2024 because Idaho’s reproductive health laws have made it such a tenuous place to practice medicine."
