Should I grind general missions and craft to get every hero a good deck?

I am about to face down Venon in The Bell Tolls and have completed Deadpools 3 missions. So far my strategy has just been to get as much research requirements done as possible and as a result Hunter is set up pretty well and feels ready for upping the difficulty, but everyone else still uses mostly their starting decks and no passive. Its just been hard to take people more once I have their research unlocked but others havent and can struggle on missions. Looking for advice whether to make upgraded decks ASAP or should I be focusing a few characters by now?

Please help me explode my Metagross

I really like Metagross but not the mega. Figure the best way to make use out base metagross is to catch people off guard with explosion. It works well especially since life orb metagross is a threat to many and can cut through barriers with psychic fangs. I chose the rest of my team around the idea of surprising opponents with explosion, having my teammate immune and help set up for who takes his place.

Noivern gets a lot of use because its immunity and tailwind. People usually arent afraid of him so superfang can really menace a team especially before an explosion or after it killed their team

Sable is incredible with fakeout and quash almost ensuring that metagross has time to kill opponents.

Zoroark is there for many reasons. Helps trick people into not expecting explosion. Surprises things that think they are faster than it. Speed control with icy wind. Makes fakeout scary to click

Gardevoir is there because I need a mega especially since people will assume Metagross is one. She works well in trickroom against someone using tailwind, she works well in tailwind and she can counter a full trick room team. I found myself never needing her psychic move so switch it for vaccum slice to deal with stuff like kingambit

Garchomp is there just because I want a ground type and he is really really good. Sometimes on noivern I run dragon cheer and give chomp autocrits but it didnt come up often and didnt seem all that worth it.

Beyond Metagross exploding and gardevoir hyper voice I feel like I dont have enough power to really gas the opponent down. And besides metagross nobody on the team feels particularly sturdy. Not sure if Gardevoir is the right mega for the job either.

Advanced Question on Disguise Self tricking racial gear

Didnt know how else to phrase this question besides calling it an Advanced question but as many know Disguise Self lets you pass racial requirements for gear. A lesser known mechanic is you can the drop the Disguise and continue benefiting from that gear.

My question is what exactly makes the gear check for your race again? My specific case is a drow Eldritch Knight wanting to use the Soulbreaker greatsword. I do the trick (and drop the Disguise) and it works for a while but it seems to randomly drop the extra psychic damage from being gith. It sometimes lasts multiple fights. Sometimes it stops mid turn after working for the first hit and then poofing away.

Sure, I can get it to work fine if I stay in Disguise but I like looking like myself (and I am not wanting to use mods) so I was curious if you guys know what could be the issue. Im also not unequipping it or crossing maps when the trick needs a reset since I already know those reset the race check
