NAD Orange Dual Baby

NAD Orange Dual Baby

I’ve been pondering on what to do with my amp setup for a while now, and I wanted to get rid of my Marshall Origin 50 combo. It’s got nothing wrong per sé, just not the right amp for me. Also, I wanted to get away from tubes.
I preordered a Sunn Beta Mini, but the early adopters’ feedback was very mixed, and I didn’t want to gamble €700 so I canceled my preorder and got the Orange Dual Baby. I play post rock/post metal and I like a bit of hair on my clean tone so it was the best choice among the Baby lineup.

It arrived today, and I tried it both with the XLR out into my interface with an IR and through the Origin’s speaker, and I was amazed.
Both channel A and B are amazing, they sound and feel great and are incredibly easy to dial in, in 5 minutes I was already where I wanted to be. There’s still some room for adjustment, but it’s easy to get it to sound right in a very short amount of time.

I should have rehearsals next week so I will be able to try it at band volume, but for now Orange absolutely knocked it out of the park with a relatively cheap, compact and light amp that sounds and feels amazing.

Long live solid state!

Is anyone actually happy with their Beta Mini?

As someone who has a Mini preordered in the September slot, I’ve seen a lot of unhappy posts either about the volume or the amp itself.
Can I hear something from the ones who are satisfied with their unit?
I love the Beta sound and want to love the amp, but I feel a bit disheartened right now 😅

2x12 4 ohm cab for Beta Mini

Hi everyone!

Ordered a Beta Mini and I can’t wait to receive it!
The Beta Mini will be my first head, I’ve only used combos until now, so I don’t have cabinets to try.

Ideally I’m looking for a vertical 2x12 cab that can run at 4 ohms, or at least with 8 ohms speakers that can be easily rewired to be parallel to reach 4 ohms.

The only cheap and readily available option is the Blackstar Debut 212V which is the matching cab for the Debut head, and it being solid state it’s already 4 ohms.

I was thinking at around €300 that would be a good solution and I can always upgrade the speakers down the line. What little I could find online suggests they’re decently built even though the stock speakers are a bit whatever.

Any input?

Snowsky Disc bluetooth issues

Hi, I just got my Snowsky Disc and while I wait for my new IEMs (should also receive them today) I was trying to pair it with my Airpods 4, but it seems it doesn't even see them.

When I got back into my car to go back to work, tried to pair the Disc with my car and though it saw it the pairing kept failing.

Am I doing something wrong or is it a limitation of the Disc?

[NPD] Lokajaudio Doom Machine V3 (Life Pedal V3 clone)

I’ve been leaning towards doomy/post metal-y sounds for the longest time, and even after getting an HX Stomp for effects and amp/cab sims I kept hearing the sirens call of the Life Pedal to be my entire drive section. Problem is, they’re wait out of my budget.
Looking around the internet I found this Czech guy, Lokajaudio, on Etsy, making what seemed to be good clones of the circuit, so after having it in my cart for a while I finally caved in and bought it, even though it was directly from his site. Ordered on May 2nd, and it was delivered today. I guess he really builds them to order.

I built a patch with the Moon amp on the Stomp set to clean-ish and dialed the boost (the Magnitude side) to slightly push the amp into edge of breakup, and I absolutely love how it sounds.
The Rat (Amplitude) side is also glorious. The three clipping options give three different enough flavors, from tighter to blown out fuzz, and you can dial in everything from a slight crunch to a massive doom distortion with a lot in between.

The octave circuit is the cherry on top: it’s wild and unruly, especially with a lot of gain and playing on the bridge pickup, and it can go from subtle to noisy, chaotic goodness.

I honestly don’t know how it compares to the original, but for the €130 I paid for it, it’s everything I hoped for and more!
If you want a Life Pedal but can’t justify the full price, this is a great affordable alternative, highly recommended!
