How do you deal with bishops on g5 and/or b5?
My rating is around 850, and I often end up in positions like this when I play the Nimzowitsch Defense, where my opponent's bishop pins my knight and threatens to capture it.
I always struggle with this. If I move my knight, I sometimes risk losing my queen because of the pin. If I attack the bishop with a pawn, it can simply retreat, leaving me with a weakened pawn structure. It can also sacrifice itself, opening up the g-file, or it can capture my knight, possibly leaving me with doubled pawns.
The problem is that I don't like trading my knights for my opponent's bishops. What's the best way to deal with these positions?
