How to get puppy to respect adult dog’s boundaries?
Hi everyone! I’m dog sitting my dad’s 10 month old female maltese for a couple weeks. I drove 7 hours with my 5 year old male mini schnauzer to help him. My dog likes other dogs, but I know he has less patience for puppies. My dad’s dog is barely socialized with other dogs/people. She bounces/leaps in front of my dog I think signaling play(?) My dog will absolutely snap and be aggressive towards her and sometimes I don’t even get a warning from him. They get along fine on walks, but this is mainly because my dog ignores my dad’s puppy. Once we’re inside the house and off leash, my dad’s puppy will do her little bounce and stomp thing. I would really love for them to just coexist but I know this will be tough for us since I’m not her owner and I’m only here for a couple weeks. I’m also going to be working from home so I can’t be heavily monitoring them 24/7. She has a crate.. but definitely not crate trained. Any tips?
