Do you really need to update your estate plan after a major family change?

State: Texas

I am trying to understand something about estate planning after a family situation changes.

A relative had an estate plan prepared several years ago when their family situation was very different. Since then one of the people named in the documents is no longer someone they want involved, and another family member has become much more important in their day-to-day life.

The question came up about whether the old documents should simply be amended or whether it makes more sense to have the whole plan reviewed again.

What surprised me is how many things can change over several years without anyone thinking about the estate plan. Beneficiaries, people chosen to handle things, property, bank accounts and even family relationships can all be different.

For those familiar with estate planning in Texas, what kinds of life changes should normally trigger a full review rather than just changing one document?

I understand this is not legal advice and that an attorney would need to look at the actual situation. I'm mainly interested in hearing how others approach reviewing an older estate plan.

AITA for asking my friend to stop using my parking spot?

I live in an apartment building where every unit has one assigned parking spot. My friend lives in the same building but her spot is on the other side of the lot and she sometimes has trouble getting into it when the lot is crowded.

A few weeks ago she asked if she could use my spot for one night because I was going out of town. I said sure. When I came back the next morning she had already moved her car so I didn't think much of it.

Since then she has started using my spot whenever she sees that I am not home. I noticed because I came home a few times and found another car there. She always moves it when I text her but recently I told her she needs to stop using it without asking first.

She said I was making a big deal out of nothing because the spot is empty whenever I am not there and she only uses it for a few hours. I told her that doesn't mean she can assume it's available just because I'm gone.

She thinks I am being overly strict about something I am not even using most of the time. I feel like once I let her use it that one time she started treating it like an unofficial second parking spot.

AITA for telling her she can not use my parking spot unless I specifically say it's okay?
