I'm going to NIT jalandhar this year for IT and I just looked up the ranks at which you could get admission into IIT or top tier NIT for mtech.

You would need AIR 2000 for doing mtech in those colleges, and I looked up at median placements in Mtech of my own campus and they look nasty, with highest package of 24 LPA in mtech and median of 9 to 12 LPA, whereas btech offers highest package of 52LPA and median package of 14LPA, this made me confused that is preparing for GATE even worth it or not, Should I just focus on Btech??
