Has anyone successfully appealed/reconsidered funding after receiving an unfunded offer?

Hi everyone,

I recently received an unfunded MA offer, and I’m wondering whether it’s realistic to ask for a scholarship reconsideration or funding review after admission decisions are released.

During my interview period, I unfortunately wasn’t in the best condition academically or mentally — I was extremely exhausted from coursework, very nervous, and probably performed below my actual level. Since then, my profile has improved a bit: I now have two international journal papers accepted for publication (they were not available at the time of the interview/application).

I know funding is competitive, but I’d really appreciate honest experiences or advice from anyone who has gone through something similar.

Thank you!

Has anyone successfully appealed/reconsidered funding at HBKU after receiving an unfunded offer?

Hi everyone,

I recently received an admission offer(MA) from HBKU, but without funding. I’m wondering whether there is any possibility to request reconsideration for scholarships/funding after admission decisions are released.

At the time of my interview, I unfortunately did not perform as well as I normally could due to academic exhaustion and nervousness. Since then, however, my academic profile has improved significantly — I now have two international journal articles accepted for publication, which were not available during my interview/application stage.

I would like to ask:

  • Has anyone successfully obtained funding after initially receiving an unfunded offer?
  • Does HBKU allow applicants to submit updated academic achievements for reconsideration?
  • Is it worth contacting the admissions office or program coordinator?

I would really appreciate any experiences or advice. Thank you!

I have an offer from Unito, the scholarship is not out yet but I dare not to give much hope for it. I can do EN-ZH translation and I can perform bellydance. Can these two skills help me to afford the living expenses and tuition fee all together there?
