PSP on the Pocket Air Mini
I’ve completed many GBA titles using the PAM and had a great experience with it. I also own a modded PSP 3000, so I originally didn’t feel the need to emulate PSP games. But a few weeks ago, I realized that even with a new battery, my PSP only lasts around 3–4 hours, uses a proprietary charger, and lacks quality-of-life features like save states, fast-forward, and convenient Wi-Fi downloads that PPSSPP offers.
So I added some of my favorite PSP titles for longer road trips, including Lunar: Silver Star Harmony and PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe. They’re very different games, but both have been great to revisit.
Lunar is an RPG that is like gaming and watching an animé at the same time, while Monsters is a strategy game that is like tower defence. Try them out.
PSP emulation on the PAM doesn’t use the full screen, but I still prefer keeping the original aspect ratio over stretching the image.
I’ll always put original hardware first, but I’m happy to see how far emulation has come compared to the early 2020s. When used well, technology really helps keep hobbies more accessible and adaptable.
Extra note: I picked up an $8 CAD TPU grip from AliExpress and have been using it for about two months. It noticeably improved the grip, reduced the slippery feel, and the added bumps make it more comfortable to hold.
The light bleed on my PAM does show on the pictures but so far, has not distracted me while gaming. I find it negligible to be annoying, but it sure is present 😅
