Transmission Fluid & Filter Change — 2001 Sierra
Hello GMT800 owners! I have a question about my transmission.
I bought my 2001 Sierra a few years ago from a government auction. From what I understand, government fleet vehicles are usually kept up with regular maintenance, so I’m hoping the service history on the truck is accurate.
When I got the truck, I noticed it had a transmission service sticker showing that the transmission fluid and filter were changed at 84,300 miles. I bought the truck at around 90,000 miles, and it currently has about 103,000 miles.
My question is: Would it be safe to do another transmission fluid and filter change at this point? I’ve heard different opinions about changing transmission fluid on an older truck, especially if you don’t know the complete service history.
Would you guys recommend doing a filter and fluid change, or should I leave it alone?
Thanks in advance!
