Thrift stores are a great source of plushies

I hope it's okay to post this here. Most thrift stores are overflowing with plush toys, making them a great source for plushies for anyone looking to bring some for competitions. They're inexpensive, and it's much more environmentally friendly than buying new ones.

They're also surprisingly easy to clean. If your worried about bugs, wrap the plushies in a plastic bag and place in your freezer for a few days, then wash them in your machine in a mesh laundry bag or a pillowcase secured with a loose knot or a rubber band. Then leave them to dry. They come out looking great and are ready to cheer on your favorite skater!

Hospital supply departments are a great source of free boxes

I hope it's okay to post this here.

I work in the supply department of a major hospital, and the amount of cardboard boxes we go through is insane! The upside is that they're a great source for anyone looking for moving boxes, along with other packing materials like bubble wrap and brown packing paper.

If you work at a hospital or any other type of medical facility and need moving boxes, take a trip to your supply department. You'll almost certainly find a wide variety of boxes of all shapes and sizes, as well as other packing materials like bubble wrap and packing paper. The quality of these boxes is generally pretty high too.

Just be sure to check with the department manager or a tech first to make sure it's okay to take any boxes or packing materials. The supply department at my hospital is happy to let employees reuse them, but it's always best to ask before taking anything.

College move out part 2 (including Pottery barn blanket!)

Collected all of these in large plastic bags I brought from work and throughly checked them over before cleaning them at a laundromat near my place.

A few have some minor stains, but nothing major.

Cannot backup photos on new computer

So, I recently got a new computer and have been unable to get Google Photos to work on it. When I open the app and click "Folder backup" on the pulldown menu, nothing happens. If I try a second time, "Folder backup" just flashes quickly and nothing happens.

When I try to manual backup images, it get stuck after just a handful of images.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Music suggestions for skaters

Inspired by the collective eyeroll most of us had at the announcement Zingas/Kolesnik will be using "Bolero" for their free skate next season, I'm interested in what music you would like to see a specific skater or team use. If possible please provide a link.

Isabeau Levito: SP: "Material Girl" by Madonna. She's already skating a program to this music on Stars on Ice

FS: "Gloria Regali" and "Winter's Song" by Tommee Profit. Still has a classical feel, but much darker in tone. I hope Isabeau uses this new season to try new things.

Lajoie/Lagha: RD: "Howl's Moving Castle" soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi

FD: "Belladonna" by Faun. La/La need to shake things up and I think something dramatic like this would be a good way to go.

Brown/Brown: RD: "Ocean" soundtrack by Steven Price.
