With the Cornell case we have seen how systematic these issues with Greek Life are. Fraternities have always have had problems with sexual assault, but they also have issues with racism, hazing, and substance abuse. While sororities aren't as problematic, they still very much have issues too with hazing, racism and discrimination.

I don't think there's anything necessarily unique about the individuals in Greek life. However I think the power, exclusivity, and social stigma makes these issues so much worse. It's structural at this point. What do you all think?

I do, especially on days like this. I miss the general feeling of hope back then. I know we as a society still had a ton of problems, but there was this a feeling that we were progressing.

It felt a lot more lighthearted back then. I don't know if I would ever want to go back to being that age or have that life again, but I miss the general feeling.

Alright so I live in a purple state and I've personally seen this play out. I'm also PoC so I think this is why it hits closer to home.

I've seen people who have liberal/progressive/feminist views date and marry people who don't have those same views. I don't know what their justification is, but it happens any way. I know you are not responsible for your partner's actions, but it still feels like complicity to me. As a PoC I never had the option of having a circle of people who are opposite to my politics. When I see this happen and play out in real life, I cannot help but side eye.
