My favorite local material "Brassfield Chert" Southern Middle Tennessee
Knapped and polished limestone tool. Heavily ground and polished around the pole end with heavy flaking scars, use wear and polish at the bit. A heavy handful. While uncommon limestone tools are no different than Flint or hardstone the ancient tools that are recovered were the way of life so any implements found are very deliberate with great attention to care and detail.
