529 ABLE Applicability

Was listening to a recent episode of the ChooseFI podcast discussing 529 ABLE retirement accounts for disabilities. While FA may be a disability under ADA it does not seem it would qualify under SSI and it is not included on the SSA list of Compassionate Allowances.

So therefore having an anaphylactic food allergy does not qualify someone for an ABLE account. Do y’all agree or has anyone qualified?

P.S. - While I’m glad I don’t have a disability that qualifies under SSI, I wish there were more financial assistance programs for those with FA. Many “safe” items are more expensive than normal!!

Flex Coupling and Lower Front Control Arms Cracked

Just had my car serviced. 6 year old BMW 430. Shop has flagged a few things. Most notably the flex coupling and lower front control arms are cracked.

Quoted price to fix:

Flex Coupling - $1,200

Control Arms - $1,100

Thoughts on price, severity (based on images), and whether you agree? I’m considering selling my car in the next year so I don’t want to fix anything unless it’s a safety concern. Thanks!
