[Advice Needed] I want to start a small foundry. I have the technical skills, but I'm terrified of taking the first step (Client Acquisition)
I'm looking for some practical advice and maybe a bit of a reality check.
I graduated with a degree in Foundry Engineering. I know the technical side of metal casting inside out: 3D modeling, metallurgy, material science, and the entire casting process. I also know exactly what equipment I need to set up a small-scale operation
Here is my problem: I am absolutely terrified to pull the trigger and take the first step.
While I know exactly how to manufacture parts, I have absolutely zero idea how to run a business or get clients.
I'm stuck in analysis paralysis because I don't want to buy all this expensive equipment just to have it gather dust.
How do you actually find your first customers?
How do I start this so it makes financial sense? Should I try to pre-sell services before buying the big equipment?
Any advice, harsh truths, or step-by-step suggestions for a technical founder trying to figure out the sales side would be incredibly appreciated.
Thanks!
