Selling investments and put into PPOR?

Currently have around 100k in shares (in my name only) I’ll be taking maternity leave in the 26/27 financial year and will have a low marginal tax rate. we’re building a PPOR and haven’t been in a position to buy new shares for awhile so they‘ll all be 12+ months and eligible for 50% CGT discount (before 30 June 2027). also own an IP (jointly owned with partner) but hasn’t had much value gain (VIC). it’s currently our PPOR under the 6 year rule until we move into the new build so won’t be liable for any CGT if sold (not that we’ve gained much anyway), given interest rates and tax changes is it worth putting all our money into our PPOR? We recently sold another IP so would essentially be mortgage free on our PPOR, but with no investments. My partner thinks investing and utilising debt is still a better financial strategy, even with the new tax rules. I’m not financially savvy and quite risk averse, so interested to know what others would do in this situation. We could also just sell either the shares or the IP, not both.

Will only let my provide one employer for paid parental leave

Im due to give birth on the 5th August and started work with first employer on the 8th September 2025 after a period of unemployment. i will work up until the 16th July and qualify for PPL (more than 330 hours over 295+ days). I’ve changed employers in that time and Centrelink will only let me add one employer on the claim. it’s say on the claim to add current employer but I only started with them on the 3rd March 2026. based on that date they will deny my claim as less than 10 months, but there seems to be no way to add my previous employer. which employer should I be including?

I‘m currently 6 months pregnant and working as a locum. I have just been offered a 6 month contract which could become permanent. My employer is really happy with my work, it’s a great team, it’s also not easy to find a role in my profession this well paid & this close to home (spent a year searching/applying with no success). Is it crazy to consider returning to work 6 weeks post-partum? We have 2 school aged kids so it’s not all new to us, hubby is eligible for 4 months paid parental leave from his employer. It is very likely I can work 3 days a week (currently working 4) & hubby could potentially extend his leave by working the other 2 days. As far as breastfeeding work is very close to home (so he can bring bub in for feeds) & I know I’ll have to mix-feed due to other issues, so bub will be partially bottle fed from birth regardless. We’ve always wanted a more equal split in the parenting, I just don’t see much about dads being the primary carer for such a very young baby. usually dad takes the leave much later & I’m wondering if it’s realistic?
