Finding first job

Credentials:

B.S., Cybersecurity Technolgy; Minor in Computer Science (4.0 GPA / Highest Honors)
CompTIA Sec+
CompTIA Net+
CompTIA A+

I’ve applied for about 20 entry level positions so far but having trouble even trying to find jobs to apply to. I’ve been using Indeed, Dice, using a variety of job role searches and AI to help look.

I am looking for an entry level help desk, security/SOC analyst position, or any entry level IT/cybersecurity role. Any tips on where to look for jobs or just over guidance on this journey. I am worried about getting my foot in the door, I appreciate any help!

Trying to Find First Job

I attached my resume (blocked out the header, businesses and locations), I welcome feedback. My buddy worked at a college formatting resumes and helped with mine, but let me know if I need to change anything.

How good is Professor Messor practice exams

I purchased Professor Messors practice exams and I am scoring above 81% (the tests says I’m ready) and feel confident regarding the substance of those tests. Are those a good metric to determine if I am ready for the security+ exam. I wasn’t sure if anyone has experience with those exams.

I also just got my degree in cyber security and have been watching his videos and using AI to go over exam objectives.

If not, what is a good practice exam I could use as a metric to determine if I’m ready.

Also if anyone has overall tips for getting ready I would appreciate it!

Thanks everyone!

How to get my first job

Hey Everyone,

Try to keep this short I just received my bachelors in cyber security with a minor in computer science (4.0 GPA). I have my A+ and Net+ and will have my Sec+ in the following weeks. I have done an array of home projects as well such as building my own Active Directory, VPN, etc.

I’ve applied to about 7-10 help desk positions, I wanted to wait for my sec+ before I start mass applying. My application has been rejected each time. I don’t have any professional experience and I’m worried about getting my foot in the door. I know help desk is where I will need to start most likely.

Any advice on where to find jobs, where to apply, and just overall tips? Should I wait to get my sec+ before applying more? I would like to think my resume is well formatted.

Thanks everyone!

W&C Mental Health Question

Roughly 8 years ago (18 years old) I voluntarily admitted myself to the hospital for five days. I have had no other admissions and do not have a criminal record. I was prescribed medication in the past but not currently on any. My mental health is good, I have had no issues for years and years.

Am I likely to get disapproved for a W&C or have to jump through a bunch of extra hoops. I have the paper work proving it was voluntary.

Sorry for the repost, just looking for some input

I have my HQL as the question on that application was 30+ days voluntary or any time involuntary so this didn’t apply to me. I don’t want to risk loosing my HQL somehow

Concern about W&C Application

Hey everyone,

I am concerned I won’t get approved from my w&c and wanted to get input. About 8 years ago when I was 18 I voluntarily admitted myself to the hospital (non violent issue) for a total of five days then was discharged. I have no criminal record. I will disclosed this on my w&c application.

I have had my HQL for some time, but the question for the HQL only required you to select yes if it was 30+ days so it didn’t apply to me. The w&c doesn’t make that distinction. Do you guys think I will get approved or denied, just wanted some opinions? Thank you!

Ruger RXM takedown lever installed backwards for a long period of time

I reinstalled my takedown lever in backwards, I did not notice as it functioned fine oddly enough. I went to the range with it and it functioned properly.

I then noticed the slide was not going into battery by a very small amount (a millimeter or so-still functioned). The firing pin then snapped when dry firing. This is when I discovered my mistake. I replacement then firing pin assembly completely and put the take down lever back in correctly.

A function test everything seems fine

Could there be any long term damage?
(I also installed a new trigger bar as Ruger sent me one)
