When you are caught fare evading in NYC, the first thing the police do is ask to see your ID, which is how they get the relevant information to fill out the yellow citation notice. Are you allowed to just... not show it to them? Does the 4th Amendment protect your right to not have your person searched when you are reasonably suspected of a crime?

Andrew Rothman used to be the Dean of Students at Rutgers Law School’s Newark campus, but allegedly was demoted over a controversy? Does anyone know anything about this?
