The Rewindpix app is so good for editing shots to the point I stopped making filters or using any crazy ones on the V105.
Way too much fun with this camera
Custom RetroCine Recipe “RETRONIGHT’
Having way too much fun with this camera as always
Love how these came out
First things first:
Yes, there is a firmware update that addresses the reported lag (although, personally, I never really experienced any significant lag) as well as the Flash White Balance issue.
I’ve seen plenty of comments and posts about it already, and yes—it works.
The improvements are genuinely impressive.
That said, it’s important to remember that this firmware has not been officially released yet.
It’s still in the testing phase, and installing it outside of that process carries a genuine risk of bricking your camera.
The volunteer testers are, to some extent, covered if something goes wrong with their units during testing.
If you obtain the firmware unofficially and decide to install it anyway, then unfortunately, if your camera gets bricked, you’re likely on your own.
So far, one camera has reportedly been bricked during testing. (XIAO can confirm this if he wishes.)
I completely understand that people want the latest improvements as soon as possible, but a little patience here could save you from turning your camera into a paperweight.
The firmware is still being refined to make sure it’s stable before public release.
If anything, it’s worth appreciating the effort that’s gone into this.
XIAO is actively developing, testing, and improving the firmware while simultaneously fulfilling camera orders. That’s a lot to juggle, and it’s something that deserves recognition.
Anyway, here are some before-and-after examples of the Flash White Balance improvements.
Pretty fond of this Recipe. I always love the shots that I get.

I’ve seen a lot of criticism about what people describe as the “shutter lag.” While I agree there is some delay, and it’s something that’s actively being addressed, I also think there are a few things I’ve learned from using the camera that are worth sharing.
When we use cameras from the big mainstream brands, we’ve become conditioned to think that the moment we press the shutter and hear the click, the image has been captured. Years of advances in sensor technology, processors and autofocus systems have trained us to expect that instant response.
This is different.
We have to remember that these are toy cameras (and I don’t mean that negatively). They’re built around much simpler hardware, likely with smaller sensors, less powerful processors and far fewer resources behind their development. That naturally means they operate more slowly and require a different mindset when shooting.
One thing I’ve found that helps is not pressing the viewfinder tightly against my eye. Holding it slightly away lets me see the framing lines a little more clearly, although I’d still agree they aren’t perfectly accurate. More importantly, I’ve found that pressing the shutter and continuing to hold the camera steady until the green LED has completely stopped blinking has given me far more consistent results.
The biggest adjustment is mental.
You have to train yourself to realise that the mechanical click or “ping” of the shutter isn’t the moment the entire capture process has finished. The camera still needs another moment afterwards, so resist the instinct to immediately move. Stay still until that green LED has finished blinking.
We’re so used to doing everything instantly in the modern digital age. Cameras today are incredibly fast, and we’ve all developed muscle memory around that speed. This camera asks you to slow down.
Yes, the technology is slower than a modern mirrorless camera. But this isn’t trying to compete with one, nor is it being developed by a huge company with decades of R&D, engineering teams and massive manufacturing budgets.
As far as I’ve gathered through Discord and following the project, it’s largely the work of one passionate creator trying to build something genuinely different in the screen-free camera space. I’ve been impressed by how transparent, approachable and proactive they’ve been throughout the development and manufacturing process.
The first version of any project like this is rarely perfect.
I remember the original Camp Snap and Flashback cameras and the issues they had. Ask anyone who owned one what the shutter lag was like on those… I’ll wait. I own both, and even today they still have quirks in their workflow and overall ecosystem.
I think what we, as consumers, have to remember is that this camera encourages a completely different way of shooting. It asks us to slow down far more than we’re accustomed to and unlearn years of instinctive habits built around modern digital cameras.
I’m guilty of it too. 😅
The very first photos I took with this camera were blurry pictures of my feet… available on my OnlyFans if you’re interested. (I’m joking.)
The important thing is that good photos are absolutely possible with this camera, but you genuinely do need to slow your shooting process down much more than you probably realise.
And no, personally I don’t think that’s false advertising.
I believe the green LED is there for a reason. It’s telling you the camera has started the capture and write-to-card process, so that’s your cue to stay still until it’s finished.
Give these tips a try and see if your keeper rate improves.
Happy shooting. 💜✌🏼
Some Recent Shots on the Rewindpix.
Looking forward to all the future software and firmware updates that are coming.
Created a classic film recipe, using actual film scans as reference, available on the Rewindpix discord.
Managed to snag a good deal on this cam and been impressed ever since. It’s open up a lot of creative opportunities for me with its white balance colour shift. ( hoping the mods will allow)
I believe the REWINDPIX manual isn’t easily accessible in any Capacity currently, as it sits hidden in the “latest updates” tab on their discord currently.
(They were awaiting proof reading)
Therefore:
You’re welcome and it’s available in numerous languages.
Hopefully this may help some people who may be stuck.
Couple of shots with the Rewindpix PS135 and a mixture of film stocks:

Really enjoy using this ✌🏼💜
Kickstarter just ended, but you can still essentially buy via the Kickstarter.
Attached some specs and what’s in the box to help people.
They also have a Anodised Black Aluminium Model.
The plastic colour options are Moon Rock and Beige.
Easier Filter Change workflow than the campsnap and flashback.
No waiting around. No over processing or over processing.
(Sorry Admins, I know there’s a lot of interest in this toy cam)
CUSTOM FILM RECIPE - FUTURACHROME
Yes the black windows are intentional, it’s a creative film recipe.
It’s nearing the end of their Kickstarter so mass production and fulfillment is nearly underway. If you want one I’d honestly jump on it asap.
They also have an anodised aluminum alloy version.
