Housewarming treats

What are some good recipes to try for a housewarming? I'm thinking I would rather not have a cake/tart as people never want to be the first to cut in to it. Would be ideal if I could make them in advance by freezing and then thaw the day before. Would love some suggestions. Thanks.

Can't manage a spider plany

Hello,

My neighbour gifted me this spider plant about 2 months ago. When she gave it to me, it was heavily watered and in a plastic bag with water. I haven't watered it since because I figured it was over watered as there is kinda mouly on the soil since then. It's currently sitting in my hallway when it receives some light from two windows either side and I have a plant light near it that is set for 4hrs on a timer.

It doesn't help that sometimes my pet takes bites out of it.

What am I doing wrong?

Living room rugs

Hi,

Moved into our home and looking to complete our living room space. Plan is to put a large art piece behind couch and some pillows along with a rug. Anyone have a suggestion on rug size or colour?

New home

My husband and I just bought our first house and in the process of designing our living room. Currently, the room is grey with the grey brick focal wall which leads into the kitchen which is white/grey.

The focal wall we haven't decided whether to put a TV or do a thick wooden mantle. We are holding off on purchasing a couch until we know what sort of colour to go for we kinda want to keep away from the grey but perhaps a blue would work well like the picture at the end. Would love some advice

Ideas needed after moving in

Our living room is 13' X 15'. We just moved into our new home which we are super excited to decorate. The first thing that we need is a couch. The walls are grey with the kitchen also grey so we definitely don't want to add more grey. Would love any ideas. We aren't sure whether to add a TV on the grey brick portion or do a thick wooden mantel. Would love to hear ideas

FTHB advice needed

Hello,

looking for some advice regarding mortgages. Got preapproval via realtor recommended broker. We placed an offer on a house and it got accepted. Our realtor forwarded the contract to the broker. We sent them our W2, paystubs etc. However, everything seems very rushed and no one has explained anything to us. we don't know what the fee would be for using the broker and they quoted a rate of 6.5%. Talking to my credit union - they offer 6.25% ((30yr conventional 7yr ARM), no PMI with 10% down and 3000 closing cost including appraisal. What's the advantage of one over the other? CU seems much more informative and helpful.
