Coming from the Destiny/Bungie shambles. Aim gliding has me hooked, and reflections.

I’m brand new here, and I just need to vent a little joy mixed with a lot of recent gaming heartbreak.

I’ve been heavily invested in the Destiny universe recently (just finished the Renegades campaign), and I’ve been playing Marathon too. But watching the news of Destiny 2 officially being put into maintenance mode, Sony’s massive $765 million write-down on Bungie, and more layoffs has been devastating. It’s a textbook tragedy of corporate greed—executives chasing "Fortnite money," setting hyper-inflated, impossible targets, and suffocating an incredible game because it couldn't achieve infinite corporate growth.

Coming straight from that cynical, exhausted live-service pressure cooker into Warframe has given me total whiplash in the best way possible.

First of all: the movement. That mid-air "glide shoot" (I just learned it's called Aim Gliding) is absolutely intoxicating. The bullet jumps, the momentum—the sheer mechanical artistry of the movement makes you feel like a god.

But what’s really striking to me is the philosophical contrast. Destiny got weighed down by trying to force PvP balance, demanding a daily checklist lifestyle, and gatekeeping content, all to satisfy corporate suits. Looking at Warframe, it feels like a sanctuary. It’s a game that actually embraced being a pure cooperative, PvE power fantasy. It didn't lose its soul trying to be Fortnite.

I’m still figuring out how to farm resources, even just to play the game, but I’m already so relieved to be here. To a community that has sustained a game on cooperative fun rather than corporate greed: you’ve built something awesome. Glad to finally join the ranks

Is anyone else noticing more bugs appearing in firefight?

-Music overlapping

-AI spawning in geometry or falling through it

-glitch in the game where the screen jumps

Haven't been on Infinite firefight for a few days, it's been a ritual for me and my GF.

Maybe see some of you on the battlefield!

Hey everyone,

My Waterdeep Campaign is likely going to take us shortly to Skullport, as the party will inevitably try to seek out Xanathar.

I'm trying to find a map for Skullport with labels, ideally interactive but it doesn't have to be.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I appreciate it very much

What I love about this engine is the way (like Bungie) the skymaps are alive! The clouds and sun direction are real time. A great experience when playing in the open world sandbox.

I'm doing a Legendary Playthrough, it's such a shame Microsoft did this game over, it could have been incredible, with DLC and expanded coop like in the concepts.... Oh well!

Neither toxic fan communities nor toxic management will help. We need rid of both, or as I'm starting to realise, just enjoy what you enjoy and deafen out the negativity.

I have been discussing the issues Halo has faced as a franchise with both friends and folk online. Many opportunities arise to slate it from one angle or another. It makes me sad, the trouble it has faced. Despite that, so many hours have been played on Halo games both new and old.

Using Gemini AI research model, I've been going back and forth giving input and data to it, and finally it has produce something very interesting. A comprehensive and balanced break down of the fall of Halo as an IP. Once it was the pinnacle of pop culture, for a brief moment. Everyone knew Halo, and still does to this day because of that moment, when Halo 3 took to launch.

Since then, the two main factors have lead to its demise. A technical debt of an inherited bespoke and notorious blam system, and a toxic sense of sovereignty from sections of fandom.

If you are interested in the findings, please drop by the link below to access the free copy of the research doc, and the 5 minute audio summary.

Hope you find it interesting.

No matter what, going forward, we need to be constructive, faithful fans, cherish the game for its qualities in the current form, giving a chance to the new Halo Studios team (scorched earth sounded good!) and just enjoy Halo new and old.

Our Halo community is such an incredible space, full of passion on all fronts. Whether it be for the early innovation of Bungie's trilogy and Reach, or the more recent modern shooter interactions, all have gathered their own section of fandom.

But in the wake of a new journey with Halo Campaign Evolved, it's clear the Devs have faced years of pour higher management with the publisher and internally, as well as pressure we probably can't imagine.

Devs across the industry, including modern Bungie, all have the same problem. Like all other industries, greedy power hungry individuals have interfered and caused toxic environments.

As someone who has worked in toxic work places, it's not pleasant, in fact it's hell.

In spite of this, the people making Halo games since Bungie leaving, have continued to work and produce a Halo game in the context of other modern shooters and games even, with all the monetisation demands.

Where does it leave us?

Halo is having a massive reset, the Devs are a rebranded team, old leads are gone and many execs are being held to account.

Our mistrust and anger should be directed as those that have exploited our game over the years, just as other figures continue to exploit us.

Halo is a universe about fighting oppression, facing evil, safeguarding home. For many of us, Halo is home.

Let's keep home a safe place and protect it. Support those in the community, including the Devs. Give constructive feedback, drive improvement, but remember we are all human and all work under tyrants at some point.

As 25 years of Halo approaches, let's celebrate Halo and everyone that wants to be part of it including fans and the Devs together.

Wishing the best to everyone in the Halo community.

Welcome to the Great Journey: Your Zero-Sodium Sanctuary 🌲

"I'm just lucky to still have Halo."

If that sentence resonates with you, then you’ve found your home. Welcome to the Library.

This community was created for a very specific reason: to provide a sanctuary for those who still see the art, the sweat, and the soul poured into this franchise. While the rest of the internet is busy writing monologues about "sinking ships," we’re here to behold a stronger, kinder community centered on appreciation.

The Philosophy: Supporting the Artists

We believe that behind every texture, every music cue, and every line of code is a human being—a developer or an artist—who wants this universe to thrive. We distinguish between corporate "management" and the creative process. Here, we support the creators.

The Syllabus (Our Protocols)

To keep our airlock sealed against the "Flood" of negativity, we follow a strict set of protocols. Think of this as your community Direct Instruction:

  • The "Hey Ho" Protocol: We aren't an echo chamber, but we are polite. If you have a critique, frame it constructively.
    • Correct: "It would be good if [X] was added!"
    • Correct: "It’s a shame they went in this direction, but hey ho, I’m still enjoying the gameplay."
    • Incorrect: "The game is dead/the devs are lazy."
  • Zero Sodium, Zero Monologues: If your post is a long list of grievances about why the franchise is doomed, it will be removed. We focus on what we have, not what we’re missing.
  • The Fresh Perspective: Whether you’ve been here since the Halo 3 glory days or you just picked up a controller yesterday, we value your joy. No gatekeeping allowed.

Protocol 6: The Heresy Clause

This is a one-strike sanctuary. We don’t do warnings or "detention." If you choose to bring salt into the temple or bash the individuals working on this game, you will be glassed (permanently banned) immediately. We are here to enjoy ourselves, and the peace of this community is our highest priority.

How to Join the Fight

If you agree to these protocols, introduce yourself below! Tell us:

  1. What is one thing you appreciate about the current state of Halo?
  2. What is your favorite piece of Halo art or music?

Behold a stronger community. Keep the peace. Finish the fight.

The action, combination of open world and corridor encounters, the boss fights, the RPG aspect of upgrading and collecting equipment and customizing, the epic set pieces, it's a worth addition that stands out as a campaign.

The slipspace engine really is underrated. It's worth noting that it's design for interior spaces with detail and realism and also handling 4k detail whilst traversing massive draw distances and AI random encounters on top of the missions, it's so impressive.

The rendering and material detail is superb and an industry leader, whilst retaining the art style of Halo 3

The first level of Halo Infinite is a mix of Halo CE first level and Halo 3's finale, it's full of launching yourself across chasms in an enormous ship, all real geometry. A great set piece start to an open world Halo game.

Currently working through Legendary... Wish me luck!

I found some interior encounters in Halo infinite campaign... The shading work on the caves along with all the interiors is just brilliant, looks photo realistic!

The slipspace engine was not perfect but it gave us some real gems for what it offered in the campaign, huge draw distance of actual playable space, such a great concept that could have been explored further if it weren't for greedy publishers at Microsoft shutting projects down over money.

I'm thankful for the artists and programmers that contribute to the games we play l.
