How I got rid of my PF
First I’ll explain what caused it. Weak feet. Weak feet that were caused by narrow shoes that did not allow the toes to splay and grip the floor, toes that are powered by muscles deep within the foot.
As a result, all of the weight goes, unnaturally, to the fascia which isn’t engineered to support the whole body. The toes, heel, midfoot, and knee work together, or are supposed to work together each step.
I got barefoot shoes. Minimalist shoes, more accurately. I’d list the brand but I don’t want this to come off as promotional so I’ll withhold that.
I walk, and very importantly, outside but on soft terrain, a few times per week. I also just wear the minimalist shoes everywhere I can. Woods, grass, hilly areas. Stores. Hills are great because they stretch the Achilles and foot muscles that have atrophied due to tight shoes.
I could not walk barefoot at home. The thought of it pained me, and the action of it incapacitated me. I was given inserts that provided relief but made the underlying cause worse, which is weak feet.
I can now literally run around in my house or on concrete. My arches have raised. My whole foot is thicker. They don’t get cold, or too hot and sweaty. My knees don’t hurt ever. No back pain. Modern shoes disrupt your entire gait.
Minimalist shoes is what cured my PF.
