Not as an elegant solution as the little monitor that slides into the hotshoe, but is simple tech. The hardware is described as "NEEWER Metal Phone Tripod Mount with Cold Shoes, 1/4" Thread, 180° Tilt, 360° Rotation, Adjustable Phone Clamp Holder" at Amazon and is about $15. A phone with a smaller footprint would work handle better than this Samsung Note 10+ I had laying around. I use it my IIIx. You can get some really great results that you might not think to try with a 40mm.
