Having acquired my first 28mm prime minutes ago, I’d like to let y’all know REAL street photographers shoot 28mm, 35mm is for losers

It hasn’t even delivered yet, I can just feel it in my bones, this self-evident truth was revealed to me in a dream

Christ (with Fuji recipe)

It’s almost comical at this point. Y’all are genuinely shaken by a colour grade. It’s giving gatekeepers with a myopic lens. Hell, none of you can touch the hem of my garment when it comes down to it.

Why do my Sony A6700 photos feel flat compared to every other camera I’ve owned?

Hello everyone,

I’m sharing my issue because I genuinely can’t understand what’s going on.

I love photography and I also enjoy camera gear itself. Out of passion and curiosity, I regularly switch camera bodies to try different models from different brands.

So far, I’ve owned:

  • Fujifilm X-T3
  • Lumix S5
  • Lumix S
  • Lumix S9

All of them had their strengths and weaknesses.

Out of all of them, the one I preferred the most was the A7 IV.

Since my finances are no longer what they used to be, but I missed photography, I bought a Sony A6700 a few weeks ago, thinking I would basically get a “small A7 IV.” However, I’m disappointed with the results I’m getting.

I simply cannot explain why, but I’m unable to achieve image quality similar to what I got from all my previous bodies, regardless of brand.

I first tested it with the Sony 70-350 and the Sigma 18-50, then moved to the Zeiss 35mm f/1.8 which is known for its incredible sharpness and even then I remain very unconvinced. The image is sharp, but much less crisp and pleasing than anything I previously owned. It lacks (micro)contrast, depth, dimensionality… overall, it feels rather flat.

Of course, I shoot exclusively in RAW, and I’m not saying the A6700 is a bad camera at all. But for some reason I genuinely can’t explain, I’m getting results that are significantly less satisfying than with every other body I’ve owned, even compared to my old X-T3, which was also APS-C and paired at the time with a fairly standard lens.

EDIT: after thinking about it, could it perhaps be related to pixel pitch?

  • Panasonic Lumix S5: ~5.94 µm
  • Panasonic Lumix S5II: ~5.94 µm
  • Panasonic Lumix S9: ~5.94 µm
  • Sony A7 IV: ~5.12 µm
  • Sony A6700: ~3.76 µm

After/Before

The more I see the edit I made, the more I am like « meh, maybe it saturated or looking like an amateur edit ». What are your opinions please?

Experimenting with a "Zine" format for some recent street shots. (Leica M10, 35mm/50mm)

Took the M10 out recently to catch some of the early summer light. I’ve always felt that just uploading bare digital files to social media makes them feel a bit disposable.

Lately, I've been obsessed with the idea of presentation—giving digital shots the breathing room and aesthetic of a physical photobook or an analog Zine. I feel like the layout forces you to look at the image differently.

P.S. Since people usually ask about the borders in photography subs: doing this manually in Photoshop was killing my workflow, so I actually coded a little iOS app called Stamio to automate these Zine/Film layouts with my EXIF data. Just putting it out there if anyone is into this kind of aesthetic!

Would love to hear your thoughts on these street moments!

As a Leica supremacist, doesn’t surprise me that people are finally coming to their senses and rushing to sell their Fuji’s at a 90% discount

New Pocket Setup

I'm walking to Japan tonight and my bag is full - so I decided to bring something pocketable (it only weighs 4 pounds!) . I'm not much of a fan of those big cameras .

My first Leica in its natural habitat

Recently made the jump and picked up a beat up M-P typ 240 for a good deal! Having a lot of fun, and if it means I'm shooting less film I'm technically saving money.

Yes those are googly eyes.
