Another lucky find: "Faeries" by Brian Froud and Alan Lee

Today's biggest prize from a nearby used bookstore.
This is the 1978 edition in a decent condition without a book cover; a steal at $10.

I have always loved fantasy art, and the illustrations in this book are simply gorgeous!
I knew about Alan Lee but not B. Froud... so this is going to be treat!!

Did I get lucky today? Some old sheet music...

It was the monthly book sale at the local public library, so I hopped on over and checked the sheet music section like I always do...
And voila!! Apparently, these belonged to a doctor (whose name I crossed out to protect his privacy).

For the Chopin Etudes, I already have the Paderewski, Ekier, and Cortot editions in my library, but had never heard of E. Robert Schmitz's edition.
I look forward to comparing his fingering indications to what is suggested by the other three.

As for the Schubert... an vintage Japanese edition that looks rather venerable in its old age.
I just have a soft spot for short pieces by Schubert :D

Once in a while, sterling happens...!

Really, only once in a while. For me, maybe once or twice a year, and I thrift very often.
Apparently today was my lucky day!

This one is a Norman Plain pattern serving spoon by the revered Shreve&Co, weighting close to 3 troy oz.

And "plain" it is, and heavily patina-ed, which is probably why the price setter didn't pay much attention to it...
In fact, that is how I usually find sterling items. They are usually heavily patina-ed and plain looking, not fancy like many of the silverplated counterparts.

I need to polish this one up so it will shine the way it ought to!

An Otagiri find... a tea set

I usually don't buy ceramics unless I specifically need something, but this looked like such a special set and the price was unbeatable ($4 for the 6 cups and the teapot) at a local thriftshop. Seems to have been used maybe once or twice only, as stickers that say "Handcrafted Otagiri original JAPAN" are all intact, and there are no chips or fleabites anywhere. The ratan handle is in excellent condition as well!

I guess I will put clear tape over the original stickers so they won't peel off.
Any advice on handling these would be greatly appreciated!
