I'm dog sitting a puppers right now and she... she smells. She isn't itching excessively, but she does lick her paws quite often. She is a French bulldog and I believe some of that is out of boredom.
Anyway I can smell her all over my apartment and she's the only other dog I've had this experience with other than another dog who had sever skin allergies and medication. His scent was way stronger and more foul. I asked the owner what does he use to wipe her and he said a damp cloth. The scent is very particular though and I'm almost 100% sure it's that yeast / malassezia stuff I'm smelling which I am not a fan of. It is almost as if the smell gets on everything the dog comes into contact with.
I've been reading that a couple tablespoons of ACV to a cup of water could potentially inhibit growth of malassezia, which may be causing that smell, but I'm not sure if that would cause further irritation or skin issues with this girlie. Would like to make the suggestion to the owner, but I want to ask a vet first.
Any inputs?
