didn’t feel like paying hundreds for copies of these games, so i made them.

picked up a couple 5 dollar repro carts for the shells and a couple chisflash 1.1s off ali express. after trying just a cheap repro cart and having it wipe my save post game i knew i needed to step my game up. super easy to setup and was even able to put my personal emerald save id been holding onto on there. using the burner from chis it was super easy to set them up. no issues saving and boot right up every time. the celebi on the back is such a sweet touch for these green carts. happy friday everyone!

passion rant: the mandalorian and grogu was great

i saw the mandalorian and grogu tonight, i managed to fight off reviews until i had the chance to see it so i finally dug in tonight. the amount of negativity over this movie sucks. it was a great time. for the first star wars movie in 7 years it was a breath of fresh air. this movie was just fun. did it feel like a long episode of the mandalorian? sure, but i think alot of plots you could write for a mandalorian movie would end up feeling similar. especially considering the events that have already conspired in the series (id even include BOBF events in that batch o’ canon). i don’t think this movie was supposed to be some big piece that sets up a sequence of events that will break out in following movies, just something for us star wars fans to have fun with. star wars is not the MCU. we do not need major plot developing things happening every two seconds.

as george lucas has even said, these are kids movies, and thats something you have to keep in mind, especially when you are viewing something that has a disney logo on it. yes the movie has its typical disney touches but i felt they were very dialed down in comparison to the sequels. grogu does a great job at being the main comedic relief, as its primarily done through him just being a silly little guy. considering the track record of humor in the last few star wars films, grogu feels naturally funny in a sense, similar to the humor in the original movies. he doesn’t need painfully cringy oneliners or some referential joke to make you laugh. he just does his silly little stuff and you get a kick out of it. i chuckled more at grogu just getting into trouble than i did in any of the sequel trilogy films.

while there isn’t any significant character/plot development to discuss, i would refer back to the analogy i made about the MCU. i think this movie seeks to solidify din djarins significance in a post empire world and pivot him as a noteworthy character in future projects. this would make sense if the rumors held true about severing the sequel timeline and continuing with a post ROTJ plot. i would have loved to have seen more development with the empire, but we have to remember din djarin is a bounty hunter first and foremost, not an empire fighting hero.

in short, i think alot of the criticism this movie is getting is unnecessary. this is just supposed to be a fun star wars story. things are headed in a better direction for star wars and people need to be grateful for that. i do not believe that this movie was meant to have the mass appeal that an entry in one of the trilogies would.

in my honest opinion, if you are a star wars fan, you will enjoy this movie. if you are a filmbro, you won’t.
