[California] CA unemployment ($405) + $18/hr flexible job — what should I do?

Hey everyone,

I’m on unemployment in California getting $405/week. I got a job offer that pays about $18/hr and I can choose my hours.

I’m trying to decide:

  1. Work part-time (like 15- 20hrs) and get some EDD + wages, maybe work a bit more

  2. Work full-time and lose EDD but make more money

  3. Stay on unemployment and keep looking for a better job

Has anyone done this before? What’s the best move?
Also, any tips for reporting wages or things to watch out for?

Thanks

Transfer student commuter—how should I structure my schedule?

Hi everyone,
I’m starting as a transfer student this fall and could use some advice on building my class schedule. I haven’t taken an in-person class since the 10th grade of high school, so I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to plan everything out. I’ll be commuting about 20 miles (around 40 minutes without traffic), so I’m trying to be smart about how often I’m on campus. Right now I’m thinking of stacking classes on Monday–Wednesday, probably in the afternoon/evening since I’m not really a morning person.
Does this sound like a good plan? Any tips for scheduling as a commuter or getting back into in-person classes after a long break? Appreciate any advice!

Regretting my schedule, can I still change my classes?

Hey everyone,
I’m a transfer student starting this fall and was able to pick my classes about a week and a half ago, but I’m already kind of regretting the schedule I put together.
Can I still go into GET and change them around, or am I locked into these specific sections now? Thanks!

[California] how does filing for unemployment work?

Hi, so at my job I will be on furlough for about 3 and a half months, and I will be eligible for applying for unemployment. My question is, when should I apply and how what’s the process like? This is a first for me, so I’m kind of lost. My last shift is tomorrow, and I’ll be home early. Should I apply as soon as I get home or wait until the next day?

Which pathway should I choose as an incoming CIS major?

Hey everyone,
I'm an incoming transfer student starting my BS in Computer Information Systems this upcoming term. My orientation is right around the corner, and I'm trying to decide which of our program's three major pathways/options to commit to:

1 Cybersecurity
2 Data Analytics
3 Software Development

I'm torn on which direction to take. I want to choose something that best gets me a job as soon as I graduate, but I’m not sure what’s best. Any ideas?

messaging a dealer on an alt account? how should I proceed?

So I went to this dealer last week in person for a 26 civic sport hybrid sedan. They had 1 in stock in gray. I asked if they had any black ones incoming, they said no, this was the only one they have, and none incoming.

We sat down for the numbers and for some reason he took a photo copy of my id? I don’t even know why I let him or what it was for. He offered 38k, I asked what is the best price he can do now for me to sign, and he came back at 35k. We just left after.

A week later, my brother emailed them under his name, except of using his first and last name, he used first and middle name. He instantly got a good deal of them offering 2k under msrp, and then we can stack incentives/rebates, and then they do Costco pricing as well. Which sounds great.

However, would they say something, considering how I went last week? What do you guys think?
