Worst teaching experience

I’m a new teacher and just had the worst experience. Client actually said at the end of class she was glad I was only subbing. It was a fine class - I forgot if we did L or R and that was the only hiccup. Heard her complaining to front desk after. I’ve had a shit day and this was truly the cherry on top. I’m still new but I’ve taught friends and family and have been taking classes for a long time. I am confident this was a fine class, certainly not a reportable one.

Thanks everyone for the support! Will be looking forward to teaching again. I have a couple of regulars that have been really sweet, excited to keep teaching them and growing! 💕

Rotator discs

I haven’t seen many people talk about the precision rotator discs from BB! Are they useful? The ones that attach to the jumpboard are intriguing!

Disappointing results

This is my first round of embryo freezing. I started with an AFC of 17, ended up only getting 8 eggs collected, 7 mature and 4 matured with IVM. I now have 1 Day 5 blastocyst, pending day 6 results for the remaining 3 that fertilized and the IVM (unclear how many fertilized). I have thoughts on my meds for future cycle but am currently so bummed!! I was really expecting 3-4 embryos with my AFC. I’m in my early 30s. So bummed!!

Barrels

I’m thinking of getting a barrel for my own self practice but can’t decide between the foam BB arc or the upholstered Clara barrel. I’ve only ever used the BB arc and haven’t seen the Clara barrel in person. I’ve read that most people prefer the arc since it hooks over the reformer shoulder blocks, but I can’t tell if the Clara barrel would overall be more functional outside of that one limitation. Thoughts?

MIL “confusing” Pilates with Tai Chi

Husband’s mom visited and wanted an activity packed trip, so I included Pilates on the schedule. She then asks husband what Pilates is - is it Tai Chi? She then says “my friend Sherry does Pilates, it’s really expensive.” They’re all white, and I am Asian. I’ve been fuming for months now. My husband has demanded that I apologize to his mom when he felt I crossed a line, which is unfair since the one time I did cuss her out it was because she’d been insulting me for months (said her son prefers white girls, thinks private school educated people are more “on par” for him, and that I am just outright ugly). He has for years refused to acknowledge what she’s said and even said he didn’t hear her when she said she was tired of me being in photos with them when she only wanted family photos or photos of just her son. His reason for not forcing the point is that his mom has never apologized to anyone. Then why bully me into apologizing to her? She has more recently been whining about having cancer, her second cancer scare in about a year, and no, she doesn’t have it. Allegedly she’s had biopsies to confirm, but I’m not convinced. What do I even do?! I am so angry about the tai chi comment and general tolerance of her behavior and my husband being unwilling to actually put up boundaries (“what’s the point?”). I am so angry!!!

I’m looking into liability insurance right now and see that Next offers general and professional liability insurance. I’m only teaching a few hours per week as a side gig, but I want to make sure I’m protected in case someone litigious comes to my classes. I’m a 1099 instructor in California. Thank you!
