Question is title. I just purchased bag from store 3 days ago. Expiration date of 2028. But smells terrible and does have a slight old sponge smell taste too. I used it in chicken fried rice. I smelled it when just boiling it in water but brushed it off. This can’t be its normal scent?
My dog has been incessantly shaking his head and scratching his ear for one full day, a night and this morning. I know my dog well, he’s very much an inside dog and doesn’t mingle with other dogs. I knew something was up. My vet has a longgg history of dismissing me and thinking I’m over reacting, one because he knows my mother in law and two because I am def a helicopter pet owner but not in a neurotic way, but in a proactive vs reactive way.
I called this am to get him in to check the ear because google say all of his symptoms, which include ear lowered when they are normally upright and head tilting to side, could cause loss of hearing. Vet immediately went to glands, we just had those done 5 days ago though and he reluctantly even looked in his ear canal. He goes “eh yeah I guess I see “some debris” but idk I’ll just give him meds since we are going into the weekend and to “make you feel better”I was so annoyed. I go “look, I don’t want to be here either but he has been shaking his head literally non stop for a day and a half now, I wouldn’t just call you for no reason.” ALSO, do vets not want us to be on top of our pets health? Google literally said he could go deaf if I didn’t get him seen, sorry, not taking chances. I’m so annoyed I really want a new vet after this, but they’ve been with me since day one and get me right in.
So does “some debris” pretty much mean he has an ear infection? He made it seem like he gave him a placebo to make me feel better and to check back in a week.
