Am I entitled compensation?
2 months ago I flew with Lufthansa
My return flight from Romania to Munich got cancelled due to weather so they had stopped temporarily in Venice.
We had waited 1 hr at the Venice airport and the weather was all set, the pilot even said that we were going to take off. Then 15 minutes said actually he had ran out of flight hours so everyone has to disembark.
Later, I'm waiting in line for loong time at the Venice airport to get vouchers and employees started telling people that they can apply online and to book their hotels and make the claim. Quite of few people left line, and I had spoken to one of the employees and they told me that it's ok I will be compensated and don't waste time waiting her get a hotel.
So I left, booked a hotel, transportation, and a small meal for the night.
Later the flight is rebooked automatically and I arrive home and immediately put all my receipts together and submit a claim. It took a month and they finallynresponded saying they could give me $20 and didn't specific the issue on why they couldn't give more compensation. I explained in more detail of what happened, the advice given by the Venice airport (lufthansa's employee's) and they backtracked sayint it was due to extradonary circumstances. Which it wasn't it wad due poor planning in staffing. (Booking a pilot on the tail end of his flight hours.)
Now.. am I entittled to compensation? Is there any questions I can answer to help get more info to me I would've just stayed overnight at the airport if I wasn't told false information and I feel extremely angry that I was lied to. Please any advice would be amazing.
