How to do gravity assists

Hey all, I see loads of videos online on how gravity assists work, and I do understand that on which side you pass an object determines if you speed up or slow down, and all that.
I just wonder: how do y’all manage to fly by Eve, Eve again, Kerbin, and somehow perfectly end up at Sarnus (save for a few correction burns)?

Do you have to timewarp a billion years into the future for every planet to line up exactly for something like this to be possible, or is there some other way?

Hey all, I'm a relatively new player (<15h) on science mode and succesfully landed on and returned from Minmus. Logical next step is obviously the Mun. Jeb made it to the surface safely and managed to ascend into Munar orbit before discovering the fuel tanks were bone dry. My stupid head completely forgot to make any kind of quicksaves so Jeb was really stuck. I also managed to clip a part into the capsule, stopping Jeb from going on EVA's.

Naturally, I whipped up this lifeboat to save him from a lonely death. (This time i actually looked at a dV-map lol) The upper stage is mounted with a state-of-the-art Jeb Grab 3000, which grabs Jeb's capsule and thrusted him back home O7.

A outrageous number of quicksaves later, and Jeb and Valentina have made it back, ready to be sent to their demise once more!
