3 weeks using local MCP servers: what actually broke vs what stayed
I went all-in on Model Context Protocol a few weeks ago, connecting my filesystem, local Postgres, and GitHub all at once. The idea of no more endless copy-pasting sounded amazing.
The reality? I ended up stripping away about 80% of it
Connecting a bunch of servers eats up your context window before you even type a word. Worse, giving the model too many tool choices made it consistently pick the wrong one or hallucinate arguments. Plus watching an LLM try to run a destructive edit on local files without asking is a special kind of heart attack, read only permissions are an absolute must.
The only things that survived were tiny, single purpose tools. A server that only parses local app logs turned out infinitely more useful than giving the AI full filesystem access. Keep your tool descriptions in the config super short, too. Long docs just mess up performance.
For anyone who's been testing this out: what’s the one MCP server that actually earned a permanent spot in your config?
One tiny fix, three new bugs and 47 changed files
This chick was born with four legs
This chick was born with four legs instead of two, a rare congenital condition known as polymelia. The extra limbs develop during embryonic growth and are usually underdeveloped or non-functional.
Four-legged chickens have been documented before, but the condition is extremely rare in birds
This is such a strange way of saying the limits are decreasing

Korean study habits that I learned from studying abroad
My first few months studying in Korea gave me complete culture shock over how students really put big effort into their grades. I thought I was smart in the States but when I started studying in Korea, things were literally on another level of smart.
I stayed there for almost 2 years, made university friends and gathered tips from them on how they have a unique study strategy that got them a 4.3 GPA (they have different grade system). The tips I got have been helping me until now!
1. They make study plans: I wasn't really familiar with making study plans so when I started making them, things changed completely. I went from having messy plans and ending up procrastinating to having fixed plans that helped me track what things I needed to get done.
2. Go to a library or study space: A good study environment is important when studying. There are a lot of study hubs that you will find in Korea. I went there to study many times and it actually felt productive to study in quiet rooms with high partitions.
3. Use different study techniques: Korean students use different study methods to ensure that information sticks. They call one "Dan-gwon-hwa," which means summarizing everything into one book. It takes time to rewrite and summarize all the notes, what I did is I just put my notes into Turbo.AI to help me summarize the lesson quickly and I condense it into a single master notebook. Another technique is the "blank paper review." I just take a blank paper and write down everything I know about a specific topic. If I forget something or get a specific topic wrong, I write it in my mistake notebook so that I can relearn it.
4. Have a good mindset when studying: After I learned how studying here was different from the States, I immediately locked in. I began to be extremely productive and focused in real time, acting like I was taking an exam every day.
Additional tips for you guys is don't overstress and overwork yourself from studying. You can follow these tips, but it is important to still get 7-8 hours of sleep every day. The real key is that the information will stick if you get proper sleep along with studying like this!
Thanks to my Korean friends for this absolutely life changing study strategy that helps me a lot. I wanted to share these tips with you guys in case you are also struggling to find a way to study effectively!
Spider-Man after realizing the multiverse has absolutely no HR department
The Spider-Verse has saved reality multiple times but apparently he still needs 2 valid IDs and a photocopy.
“Spider-Man, your application is incomplete.”
“But I literally saved the universe.”
“Okay, but where's your original PSA birth certificate?”
What other fictional character would absolutely lose their mind dealing with Filipino government paperwork? 😂
